SL65>ZR1?

That's Ranger (I met him at Corvettes @ Carlisle a couple years ago). He was an Army Ranger. He's well known in the Vette realm as probably the best driver. He even has a "how-to" video for launching the car and how to shift quickly. His car is entirely stock. With DRs, he's in the high 10s.

I read a test on the SL65BS in Autoweek - they said on the track (Laguna) that the weight is VERY apparent. It is not a track star at all. Yeah, just the thought that some car enthusiast claim that it would be close really startled me. It really gives you an idea of the actual real knowledge some of the posters have here.

What is the BIG deal with the ZR1? A $100k Chevy?

Go slapp a blower on a $40k C6 ,, and your about 96% there.

I would rather have any SL over a Vette,,,,,, including a "ZR1".

You clearly don't have a clue if you are going to label it a $100k Chevy. It sounds like you are a fanboi angry that for $200,000 less you still have a car that tromps your benz dream. I personally would enjoy every minute I spent in front of those yuppies thinking the dollar amount spent makes them worth a damn.

First of all, its a sl65 black series, not s65. And Benz is not so stupid that they didnt put the SMG type tranmission in it, the truth is that the auto 5 speed is the only transmission they have tht can handle 800 lbs of torque. Once you get to those horsepower and torque figures, a Auto or SMG type transmission is really the best thing to handle the power. The fastest supras were all 4 speed autos.

One of the reasons the GTR's are having so many issues is because the tranmission is not strong enough. Nissan put the dual clutch sequential gear box in there, and it basically breaks when you do more than a few automated clutch drops....

Until you drive them both it would be ignorant to say you would rather have one over the other with such conviction. I personally have experience with both the Corvette and SL's... AMG or 500's.
