Oh gotcha that makes sense then. I’ve bought 2 BMWs from my dealerships and they were used. Guess that only accounts then to the dealerships numbers not bmw. Thanks for clarifying

Aside from gross units sold I’m not sure this is a good news story. Their high margin vehicles (X5-X7) all had major sales decreases.
I know there’s market/inflationary pressures in the US but that decline is pretty surprising. They might want to revisit their pricing strategy unless they’re confident interest rate decreases ahead of the next election will help drive sales in the next few quarters. Odd not to see G80-G82 sales broken out either.

Toyota and BMW customers are mostly different buyers. More overlap with Lexus but most still think Japanese brands are totally reliable and German brands aren’t. And the Lexus MMI is comically bad for such a premium brand.

I'd be interested to know how MB and Audi did. Not too interested in Tesla but, like someone else said, many auto makers produced some good numbers and claimed they did well.

Enthusiast opinions are worthless when it comes to debates on what is considered successful for an automaker and that's been proven here by BMW performing as good as ever despite the constant criticism you see on these forums. It just doesn't matter how many times posters say they are ugly, consumers just keep buying more and more of them. I am lukewarm on some of their current designs as I think they have taken the black plastic thing way too far but it appears this is what the average consumer likes so good for BMW that they don't build their vehicles to my personal tastes.

“Not that good looking”, but then you give Toyexus as examples…the most hideous SUVs ever, IMO. Whereas IMO, the X5 is beautiful! Pretty much always has been, but the LCI was hit out of the park. I give the compact SUV beauty nod to Audi, although X3 is pretty close 2nd for me.

One could also attribute the XM sales numbers in the US to consumers who have a desire for large, overweight, in your face styling. |

And...do the math on this...2,315 XM's sold in the U.S. (and maybe includes Canada as well, not sure) multiplied by say an average of ~$200,000...can it really be $400m?? I'm thinking the margin on this particular 'suv' is probably pretty high
