But honestly, if it won't be any more comfortable for long drives, it's not worth the price difference... I don't need that much cargo anyhow.

I only cared about the M Sport Differential so for me, the X3 M40i was the clear winner. I'd have to move up to the X5 M60i to get M Sport Differential. That will be at least a whopping $40,000 Canadian dollar delta haha. Absurd in my books and people said the I6 is going to be more reliable than the V8 anyway. I'm the minority here but I think I would not buy a luxury vehicle with no torque vectoring differential. I don't care about rear wheel steering or other advanced performance enhancing technology like electric anti-roll bar, I just want the best grip / performance in any type of weather/driving conditions and that's what the M Sport Differential imparts. |

For those really, really well-off, sure, but for me, that difference is almost 70% of the i4 eDrive35 price here in Canada. |

Most batteries will last beyond 10 years but I can't accept the fact that my Accord coupe is almost 14 years old with no signs of giving up. The ICE on that will probably last another 14 years.
Current state of the art batteries probably 12/13 years tops if not pampered (infrequent fast charging, kept below 55% State of Charge, not drained to 0%) |

I read somewhere on bimmerpost that the invoice price for the 45e PHEV battery is $20,000 USD. The one for the iX probably at least double that. I think BMW does module pack replacements while in the warranty period to save on cost and I think post-warranty, BMW will only sell whole packs as selling modules could become a liability/safety issue unless it was willing to balance the modules. Once batteries can last 20 years (Maxell solid state states that but it's for medical equipment for the time being, Samsung SDI also expects 20 years by 2029 but predicts mass production in 2027), it would be a no brainer for me to go with a BEV if only because it will be a lot cheaper to own in the long run. We have to buy extended warranties to seven years on our ICEVs when BEVs will be automatically covered for eight. Batteries are really the current Achilles' Heel and once they're more robust, I expect BEV uptake to fly, in the new and used car markets. |

Why the heck is bmw being so secretive about the launch date and time? When the x5 lci was coming out everyone know the date and time for weeks. Every time I look at a new post here it’s either today or tomorrow. Can anyone provide an official irrefutable answer?
