I'd like to see the new X3 sales during trailing 12 month period. Will be indicative whether the new design has been accepted by the consumer.

I highly doubt it will be anything other than a success.

It’s a best seller and that’s not going to change.

So curious if this will be the new design language of next gen 3 series and the M3.

What is this thing on these threads about everything scratching inside and out? I’ve had 10 BMWs over the last 20 years and never really noticed anything scratching whether it be shiny piano black or just plain old plastic.

You’re better off leasing an electric car at this point

EV’s are like cell phones on wheels…

As soon as the camera gets better, the battery gets better and the screen gets better. You’re going to want a new one. At some point that will level out.
Right, so disposable. Like a cell phone. Except it costs 100x a cellphone. You lease it because it’s not something you want to own. It’s not about what I believe, it’s about what is actually selling. Look at what Ford are doing with their electric roadmap.

The ultimate irony of all this is the drive to electric is the ultimate political wedge from China. The western world has offshored all its production, but retained its technological and brand advantage. That will be squeezed by subsidized Chinese vehicles flooding the market from companies like BYD, eroding further the western high tech manufacturing still happens here. Just look at what’s happening in Germany. But by all means live in naivety believing ‘it’s just like a cellphone’ and that context doesn’t matter.

Biggest surprise to me was the interior. I really thought it was gonna look a lot worse than it was. Definitely would have preferred the G01 interior but it is what it is. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I would get the woven dash over the very cheap looking upholstery panel dash. A win by default I guess. Steering wheel is nice and thick, like an /// M wheel should be.

Regarding the way it drives, it doesn’t disappoint. The B58 motor is one of the best around. Less pumped in sound, which is a good thing. Drives good, suspension is good too.

Here are some pics I took.

Correct, sir, and they will likely be the first to come with solid state EV batteries for long range, quick recharge, and no thermal runaway. The battery chemistry will be my make-or-break for my first EV, likely my next car in a few years.

Saves BMW money, that’s all they are after once Elon demonstrated he can get away with labeling anything with minimalism.

And your new car would cost $5k more than the outgoing generation. You are welcome

This is a ridiculous argument that's making rounds around the Internet. All cars are disposable. ICE Cars in the U.S. stay on the road for an average of 158.000 miles. Almost all new EVs would survive way past that, and they'll end up being less disposable than ICE cars.

An electric motor has a way longer maintenance-free life cycle than an ICE. EVs also have way less components to break down than ICE cars. Knowing ICE cars and EVs technically, I'd be way more comfortable to buy an older EV than an iCE - as there are very few things to check with an EV. (Battery and software, and that's pretty much it)

There's been some excessive depreciation in EVs due to market conditions and MSRP adjustments, but that will level down. If you look at 22' EVs from BMW: i4 and iX, they both depreciated equally or less than equivalent ICE cars: V8 X5 or 440i. (Source: Kelly Blue Book)

Rear 3/4 is just a design disaster, from both 3/4 and from the side.

You keep looking and you keep finding strange decisions. Like why the heck is the front door cut line between it and rear doors curved like that? How can anyone look at this car and think it looks even in the same conversation looks-wise as this car?

Cars have been on this trajectory forever. Minimalism is the trend everywhere, not just cars. Check out the concept cars from 90s, they were already minimalist.

Also, new X3 likely cost more to build than the old one, but probably will cost less in the future as production ramps up. (More complicated hybrid tech, processor & screen upgrades cost more than stitching or plastics) - Oh also I'd take the new one over the old one any time. Simply better in every relevant way, and faster.

Just like this:

I think the new car looks WAY better than the old one.
The old one is just months apart, but it looks like it's a decade old next to the new one.

Odd face, minivan profile, downmarket-looking interior (I'm sure materials are acceptable but the design 'aint it).

It will still sell in droves thanks to the badge on the hood

What was wrong with the G style front end. This new X3 front looks horrible. The grills are awful.

It’s a beautiful (in its own way) mini x7.
You have to give this one to BMW.
