first let me say congrats on the car, i might also be making the same move as you (e92 m3/c63 dilema atm).

one question though, i see people say the stock tires only last like 30-35k miles. but how is this possible on a regular non aggressive driving style? if you are floorind it the torque will def shred the tires but under normal driving conditions the 30-35 tire wear still applies?

Kleemann K1 ecu flash for $1,495 provides about +50BHP / + 40 lb.-ft. TQ so it ramps the stock power from 451BHP / 443 lb.-ft. TQ to ~ 500+BHP / 480 lb.-ft. TQ! Remember, the C63 AMG's 6.2L AMG engine is a detuned version of the other 500+HP AMG engines...so there's plenty of room for more power.

P.s.he holds the record for fastest stock C63 in the US, but now he is not stock
We have yet to race again since his tune. higher speeds they pull pretty hard!!
handling wise, there about the same, the 335i has that legendary BM feel, which i love over the C63. But the steering wheel and seats ARE worlds better than the 335i!!

Nice! I've found that my stock MB C63 AMG out-handles my 335i (w/ sport package and oem stock suspension) by far. The C63 AMG just seems SO MUCH more stable to me at all speeds, and especially at higher speeds...it seems to run rings around the 335i in terms of handling capabilities and confidence; not quite but close to an M3's handling (which a stock 335i is nowhere near).

I am not a drag strip guy, but a car that weighs more than the QE II and can run a 10.95 on a strip deserves some props....

The steering is tighter, more precise and a little more confidence-inspiring, but I can't say it handles worlds better.

The brakes aren't as impressive either (imo).

Looks good gator. Congrats man.

Had a sweet deal on an '09 lined up.

Can't get out of the 335i without taking a $5,000 bath though. No thanks.

Shame too, my car only has 8,500 miles and is in showroom condition.

Anyone want to drive a Dinan 335i for 9 months with 22,000 miles left?

Looks like I'm waiting for the '10 C63.

Hmmm. That's interesting. I find the AMG brakes (6 pot composite front 2 piece rotors with 4 pot rears) on the E63 to be as good if not better than my Porsche (much lighter car) and beyond better than the 335i/M3. I experienced quite a bit of fade early with the BMW(?) Brakes seemed to be the achilles heel of the M3(?)

Are the C63 brakes really that bad?

No, the C63 AMG brakes are phenomenal. In fact, the C63 brakes (std., non-perf. package) brakes are far superior to the BMW 335i brakes. Again, I would challenge anyone to drive a stock or tuned BMW 335i from 0-100mph, then 100mph-0, and then drive 70mph on a hwy. on/off ramp. Then, do the same thing in a MB C63 and tell me which one brakes better, shows more confidence, handles better, and just plain feels safer. If you tell me the BMW 335i, you're lying.

Just compare the BMW 335i front brake rotors to the huge, drilled C63 AMG front brake rotors...

You are comparing the wrong car...... compare it with M3/GTR/Z06 instead of the 335i... because the c63 is better than the 335 in every aspect stock for stock..

what is the lease number for your c63? Might lease one after the 335..

You may want to look into buying one like I did, instead of leasing, since the interest rates are so low right now. Granted I bought the C63 AMG at a $13k discount off MSRP ($5k under invoice), but I also got a 4.7% APR too...so the new, loaded '09 MB C63 (which has a $68k MSRP) is costing me about $60 more per month than my '07 BMW 335i lease. But, of course the MB maintenance costs are much higher.

the car was bought because its comfortable. and when you're driving fast in this thing, thats exactly what you want
not some stiff C63 suspension with lexus lights and a CTS rear and wtf is with the tacky LED stick on lighting on mb porsche and audi lately.
on the other hand I like the overall side lines and I like the wheels. The interior loooks shitty, WTF is with the little shift knob? And the seats look like leatherette. The seats in the current generation are amazing imo they look like the half leatherette C class seats, which I also have, and theyre REALLY crappy. My C350 has that idrive thing, and its really annoying.

Ya, you're right.

But it seems like a lot of people post on these forums making it sound like they own the car when it belongs to their parents. Then you wonder what real world experience they actually have with the car.

I own my 2009 E63, fwiw. And don't live at home.

$55k even ($68k MSRP), but that also included (approx.) $1,000 shipping from VA to FL.

Ha ha, I hear 'ya...these "spoiled rotten" kids today; they're really something else, I'll tell you. LOL...I'm probably 20+ years older than most of them on this Forum and have worked plenty hard for many years to be in the position I am to drive these wonderful cars.

No problem.

My only issue is that people need to be up front about it. Instead of pretending they have a stable of nice cars when in fact, they own none of them. And don't have to pay for the maintenance, insurance, etc..

Driving someone else's car is more like renting or test driving on a daily basis. It's not the same as owning it. The experience is different. And one can't really become completely knowledgeable about a specific car without the whole package.

It's misleading, that's all:

fyi, tell your Dad that the E63 MB brakes are made by Brembo. They are expensive no matter what. (remember, the E63 has two piece floating 360mm front rings.)

Buying the friction rings alone from Brembo is actually less expensive because you really don't have to buy the aluminum hat assembly with it (it's one whole kit from the stealer.) Use the old one and get a hat install kit instead. You can source the rings from anybody (besides Brembo) as long as the size is identical. For OEM, go here instead of the stealer: http://www.primepartssuperstore.com/...6&pageid=10852

Good brakes (and they are great brakes) are never cheap. He needs to go to an Indy and get the pads done. Leased or not. The rotors are probably okay (stealers like to replace them.) But understand that the cost of machine turning the friction rings is prohibitive because they are drilled and cross slotted. So, it's really cheaper just to get new rotors.

If they are toast this early, somebody has been hard on them or you do a lot of aggressive stop and go driving. (Oxidation adds to it, too. And you said the car is '07)
