It was simply a piece of varnished pine, maybe 3” x 6” with 2 spikes sticking straight up, both wired to AC with an ON/OFF switch. Dad would stick on 4 hotdogs, then hit the switch. Nothing much happened at first, but eventually the hotdogs would start to puff up a bit with steam coming out of the spike holes. Obviously, 120 volts was applied to the spikes. Dad’s caution was simply, “Don’t touch it when its on.” His hotdog cooker made having hotdogs for dinner twice as much fun.

My wife still uses her little notebook with countless passwords written, scratched out, new ones written in etc. I’ve used an app for years and now as an apple user, the latest software has a very good password app that works across my phone, iPad and iMac.

I posted something similar on the Z4 board,.but thought it would be fun to put it here.
I just put an order in on a Z4HS with Jon Shafer from BMW Santa Maria for PCD delivery. Jon was one of the online bmw community originators, founder of bimmerfest and organizer of the original bimmerfest West Coast meet ups back in the late 90s/ early 2000s. I was wondering how many here dated back to to old roadlfly.org or original bimmerfest message board days. I joined roaddfly back in 1997 when I got my first e36. Hung out there until Jon started up bimmerfest and most of the bmw owners went with him. As that community evolved i moved to here and carmudgeons back around 2005. It's kind of wild to think I've had online connections with some fellow bmw owners for ~30yrs and only met a handful in person. Anyone go way back in the forum history? If so do you remember your user name from back then? I've been Josh(PA) forever. |

I started with ?bimmerforum? around '96 or so, migrated to Suzy's (E36) M3 forum around 1998 and also did Roadfly before hanging out almost exclusively at Bimmerfest for quite a few years. I was LMC on all those forums, I think. I actually started posting again recently on Bimmerfest and visiting daily although the 'fest is a mere shadow of its former self.

Put the dogs in the white piece, one spike into each end, the other piece is the lid. Plug it in and it cooked them just like you described for your Dad's device. We kids thought it was great fun, but it was kind of a stupid way to take up kitchen space for a one-function tool that did something that could be done 20 other ways, so it eventually disappeared. |

I was on Roadfly as well, same screen name. Joined back in 2002 I think. Joint here in 2010 when I ordered my M3 as the M3 board here was much more active.
