So what I like about this new X3 is the fact it's a more comfortable daily driver, where I live. The rest is personal choices, like sound, steering response, materials inside (not everyone spends money on top notch leather anyway) etc.. |

I don't think that's correct. Greater levels of autonomous driving are tied to sensors, radars, cameras etc...As far as I know, it doesn't have the package yet for higher levels, so far. The facelift might be the only change for them to change that. There is a new Service Pack coming with next year's models which means additional tech in the base engineering package.

I know Highway Assist has largely been reserved for the X5/X7 but perhaps BMW is keeping it in their back pocket in case the X3 doesn't sell as well as hoped? |

Currently Highway assist is only available on OS8.5 cars like 5/7 series and X5/X7.
Maybe the software is not yet certified for OS9 and we might see it as an option to be purchased online later via software update. |

Perhaps a G45 owner could post an image of the edge of a front side glass. Last edited by avi66; 10-23-2024 at 01:14 PM.. |

Not sure, however, previous gen G01 assembled at Spartanburg for the UK and other markets with standard or optional acoustic front glass, had it fitted there, despite not being fitted for the US market. It would also seem odd, given that Spartanburg will exclusively make the M50, and Rosslyn the 30e, that the glass specification would not be the same if it’s supposed to be standard fit. On the previous gen, acoustic front glass shows as an option code, although standard fit in the UK, on the VIN. This doesn’t appear to be the case on the M50 VIN I decoded. Is it shown on the BMW UK configurator as fitted ? Here’s how it appeared on the UK configurator for the G01/G02 standard fit all X3 models - Last edited by avi66; 10-24-2024 at 04:31 AM.. |

If its not listed in the VIN decoder then I doubt it will be fitted, which will put it behind Q5, GLC and NX in terms of cabin noise. I've been inside the g01 without acoustic glass and it was noisier than the NX, which is the loudest of the other 3. Mine g01 with acoustic glass is quite quiet. |

The cabin on my M40 with acoustic glass is also quiet, even at motorway speeds, and that’s on 21” RFT. There was a US M50 review video by Carconfetti ??, which appeared to suggest the measured interior noise level was higher than the previous gen LCI M40 and other G01’s, which I thought odd given the change to quieter non run flat tyres, improved aero dynamics, and supposed acoustic front glass. That’s also bearing in mind the LCI G01 in the US didn’t have acoustic front glass, and it was never standard in the US. |

When looking at BMWAutoParts.net, it seems there’s no (option of) acoustic front windows for G45 at the moment. There’s just one item available and price corresponds to standard glass (approx. half the price of acoustic one).
It could be an error in the press release or could be added later in some model updates, who knows… |

I’m not sure what mechanical things have been changed out that are a unique development cost to the G45. It will also depend on your local market view point, as in the UK the locking active M sport diff was standard on the M40, but not in the US, whereas there is now some type of LSD standard in the M50 in the USA etc. Hence, be cautious of feedback from people in different markets comparing different spec cars to the UK. Similarly, using wider, non run flat tyres will alter the ride and handling characteristics, yet will possibly reduce BMW cost as well. Many people don’t like the firmer ride characteristics of RFT, and the associated higher costs. I’d wait until the honeymoon period is over, and more UK users have had time to live with the car, and work out what’s what. Last edited by avi66; 10-25-2024 at 05:16 AM.. |

I will take a look at my M50 but I would venture to say is it even needed ? My new car is much quieter than my M40I. I can barely hear sirens unless the windows are down and they have to pipe in the engine sounds. Go drive the car and see if it is quiet enough for you.

Anyone w/an Apple Watch can probably use the Noise app to measure the dB if you have access to both the G01 and G45. |

To be completely honest, as a tall guy 6’6, this is a big reason why I got the x3 over the x5. I noticed how the x5 has less front seat legroom much like how the M8 has less front seat legroom than my M4. For me, front seat legroom drives my purchase choices and that’s why I tend to prefer 3/4 level cars.

Saw one in the wild at night today. Grill was lit up but it didn't look classy at all. The best feature was the tail lights but they weren't anything special- a Kia next to it had similar styling. No sun roof is a deal killer for me
