i8 would be cool if bmw managed to make an i8m version with over 700 hps. I believe since Tesla can make it, bmw also can, but they just dont, because reasons.

BMW has said in the past that there is no business case for them to make a i8M as it goes against what the car was supposed to be.
The yet to be announced new 6 series is supposed to be some sort of Porsche Cayman competitor now that the 8er has replaced the 6er as a GT car.

Do keep in mind gents that the M8 is going head to head against Porsches 911 GT3-RS in the Weather tech series.
Been some fantastic racing this yr.

BMW used to do before they talk, now it’s the other way around.

But, I think that the M8 will be outclassed next year, as the next 911 RSRs are being tested with some funky looking aero, and then there is the Corvette C8. So that is the Ford GT, Ferrari 488, Porsche 911 RSR, Corvette C8 which are mid engined. And the Aston Martin Vantage and M8 which are left as front engined. So, what’s happening is that the GTLM class is starting to shape up like a quasi-GT1 class, with purpose built mid engined cars for racing. That is until the supposedly upcoming GT1-like class, which may feature the new Toyota Super Sport Concept—-a mid engined twin turbo V6 HyperCar. Which begs the question, will BMW be lured to that as well, or stick only with the M8 in GTLM? |
