Here's an oldie from 2011. It's an outtake from an outing that included my "most stolen" image, of the same buck, a few steps earlier. For one of the lawsuits, I was asked to produce a contact sheet from the day, to solidify proof of my ownership of the image in question. When I saw this image, I thought, "That's not so bad either." So here it is. Unlike the other image, it's Registered with the US Copyright Office, so don't even think of stealing it. ;-)

Thanks Dave. He was a very patient model. I took shots of him with 3 different cameras, and still have a bunch to process. Sadly that tree lost a lot of branches over the summer and is about 15 feet shorter than it used to be. It was a favorite perch for the eagles, so I will have to see what happens this year.

Speaking of eagles, I am heading up to Klamath Falls Oregon with some friends over the Veterans Day weekend to see if we can catch some raptors at the Lower Klamath and nearby Tule Lake National Wildlife Refuges, as well as Crater Lake and Lassen national parks. It's a bit early in the season, but I have the time off so I am going to give it a whirl. I am taking 4 cameras and ally my whites (and some Fuji Blacks) so my friends have some gear to use as well.

Looks like I'm not the only one that enjoys falling leaves! Last fall I borrowed my friends Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II to try out on my Sony body and found it to be an excellent combination. Here is a newly fallen leaf floating down a stream in the shade of an over hanging tree. Taken at 100mm, f/2.8, ISO-800, 1/3200 sec.
