ARGH! I pre-ordered Nelson DeMille's new John Corey book in Jan 2021. It was supposed to be released in June 2021. It was pushed back two or three times already. The latest is October 2022 release. I'm really looking forward to this one. I hope it's worth the wait.

I'm still wading my way through, "The 1619 Project." Over 600 pages.

I'm both amazed and saddened how much was omitted from my school history classes.

by Ronald D Davis

Have a client with dyslexia and don't know much about it. She recommended I read it so I can understand her better and help.

I'm almost finished with The 1619 Project.

Deep read. Much to think about that was never taught in school.

Sandstorm - One of many Sigma series by James Rollins.

I have another random space novel sitting below it on my desk, can't even remember who/title. But I'm secure in that it's waiting for me, I won't have to scurry out to B&N when I finish the above.

I have been struggling thru The Tower of Fools by Andrzej Sapkowski (The Witcher) The story is good, but the need to explain all the family names (extremely difficult to even try to read/pronounce) and my lack of the geography on the middle European continent have made me nearly put it down and go pick up another Witcher

Christopher Paolini (Eragon) has taken to space. I'm about 50 pages into To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. Luckily this is 1100+ pages in paperback!!!

Didn't read the book, but saw a movie when I was a kid:

"Jim Thorpe – All-American," starring Burt Lancaster.

Will always make me remember the name.

Thorpe was voted Associated Press' "The Greatest Athlete of the First Half of the Century". The vote wasn't close. His accomplishments in track and field, football, and baseball put him too far ahead of the field for anyone else to have been chosen ahead of him.

When the vote was taken for the best athletes of the full 20th century, the athletes ahead of Thorpe, who were all exceptionally gifted in their sports (e.g., No. 1 - Michael Jordan), were one-sport stars. Thorpe, at No. 7, was the first of the multi-sport stars. This almost 50 years after his passing.

This multi-sport fan would argue that Thorpe was still the 20th century's No. 1.

I'm reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams for the second time. There’s a lot to like about this book. It’s fun, it’s surprisingly smart, the writing is good, and it is off-the-wall in a way that makes it unlike anything else. It's one of those feel-good books for me. Anyway, it will be an excellent introduction to my next-to-read Dirk Gently series...
