It would suck to move far away to a brand new place knowing nobody especially during a pandemic, but I find myself thinking about it more each day. Summers here are great, but now I find myself not even wanting to go out into the garage because it's so damn cold.

I was actually thinking of moving to NC with my ex 2 years ago, but we broke up before that materialized and she moved to a completely different state.

Was in the exact same place nearly a decade ago and left the PNW. 250+ days a year of rain I decided I don't shovel sunshine or need an umbrella, I need sun. My wife and two daughters were suffering from the rain (wife has SAD) I left all my family, all friends and the worst part for me has been the time I realize I wasted in a place I didn't like. Family and friends pass, move on, and until they pay my mortgage, I won't hinge my one life I have to live and all its potential on their proximity. I have zero commitment to my job, 20 years to my mortgage and a lifetime to my wife. That is how I prioritize.

MINUS NINE this morning. And the roads are an ice skating rink.

Landed in Denver last night, took one look at how long it was going to take me to get home, and went "Nope", since I have to fly this morning.

I just got a cheap hotel at the airport and called it a night.

On the plus side, the wife and cats are at home with a furnace that decided to destroy itself. Parts are a few weeks out, so she's living with fireplace and space heater heat. So far, so good.

Yeah that's what I keep coming back to. I'm single, not much holding me down. I have a good job in IT so I'm sure I could find something comparable. I am used to having family and friends close by, but during the pandemic I haven't seen them very much.

Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected.
Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches. For the Wind Chill
Advisory, very cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 20
below zero.

Lovely weather. Freeze to death while shoveling snow. I hope my neighbor with the tractor and plow is feeling neighborly tomorrow.

I've shoveled twice today and might hit the driveway one more time. Now they're predicting another 6-10" on top of the 6-7" we already have. And unbelievably, we just got a meal kit delivery. Our street hasn't been plowed since this morning, so there is a good 6" of snow on it. And the delivery guy came from Chicago today and still has to drive back there. At least a 4-5 hour drive in this shit. That's insane. We did not expect to get that delivery today.

Snow this winter has been very below avg in southern Ontario. Temps have been cold at least these last couple weeks.

With no excuse to go outside other than work, this winter is just flying by.

Supposed to snow 15-25cm tonight, weather people are often wrong tho. Going to be a fun drive to work if it does.

-14F below tonight in Denver.

I'm on the road, so my buddy came over and got my broken heater up and running..... sort of. The electronics are fried, so as a temp fix, he wired it to either be on, 100% or off. Since it's got some magic ramping blower, it puts out a LOT of hot air. My wife said it was 85 degrees inside, -14F outside.

Of course, my pipes (or at least my water meter) froze solid, so she's living in a hotel while I hope and pray that things will thaw without damage.

Sigh.

This..... could be of the Not Good.

And I'm not home until Wednesday night, so we'll just have to see what happens.

R.

It is insane. You and I encompass 2 of the about 3 states without the winters mix.

Oh boy, I do not miss New Jersey. I feel like it snows more there but it is older in Chicago.

It is currently 3 degrees outside (windchill is -22) and it's snowing

i hear ya, i got lucky and invested in a snowblower this season before the last big dump and took me an hour to do the parking pad with it. last year, was half the amount but took me 3 days to shovel out, my back couldn't take it

My decidedly unscientific snow gauge out back (a retaining wall) shows we got about 10" or so. That means I still have 4-5" in the driveway to clear tomorrow morning, unless the wind helps me out tonight. More normal temps are supposed to return next weekend.
