Expect a $150k price tag plus our greedy dealers will charge $20k ADM!

The lower L of the tail light looks like it kicks up significantly higher than on the regular new 5er, almost 3 series style. Wonder if this means the M5 will get unique lights at the rear.

Wonder what made them bring over the bigger more expensive car instead of the m3.

The MB E63S, Audi RS6, Porsche Panamera Turbo E Hybrid, and maybe a lesser extent the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo. All of these are 6 figure wagons, if BMW does have a $150k starting price, it would be midpack (higher than MB and Audi, cheaper than either Porsche). The M3 doesn’t have a serious competitor for size class in the wagon category.

Personally I like the look of the RS6 avant, if it looks anything close to it with the aggressive look then it might be a hit. With that said, if it’s priced close to 150k then it won’t sell in the states that well over an X5M.

I like wagons and I’d trade my x3m for it, but the price cannot be ridiculous like the XM.

Also, I think most will pick the X5M over an M5 touring unless they are single or their other half doesn’t care.

It’s easy to get in and out of an suv. I like being higher up and be able to see things from a higher point. Potholes everywhere here, the extra suspension travel will help.

Also we get good amount of snow where we live. So having more ground clearance it’s always nice when the roads aren’t clean.

Right now I am in love with my 2022 X3M, but I’d go to an X5M over an M5 touring before anything. Plus we can safely say that the X5M will definitely be cheaper than the touring.

The main dislike for me is the new gen idrive 8…Audi was doing this for a bit until they realized that people were over the whole touchscreen thing and that is why they started going back to buttons again.

I think this will happen in a few years eith idrive 9. Touchscreens are a nightmare especially when you are driving.

I like physical buttons.

Lastly, if BMW was serious about wagons, they would have started with the 3 series touring.

I’d be surprised if they sold more than couple hundred m5 touring units in the states per year if the price is going to be north of 150k.

Also, they will need to address the hybrid v8 drivetrain issues because it’s terrible in the XM…if they don’t, it will be awful for the people that seek performance.

I’d happy with M550i wagon too - much better daily and not being on the edge at all times.

Not sure how much the topic is controversial
German car companies don't bring wagons state wide because people did not want them as simple as that
but we are going to see the same hype that the RS6 got , which is fizzling very quickly

Ah, but some people do want them. I've owned and loved two BMW Tourings (E46 and E91) myself and would've bought a G81 M3 Touring in a heartbeat were it available in the states with a manual transmission. I realize you are not at all alone in your dislike of wagons, but a bunch of people like them.

I’m extremely excited for this car I think it’s going to be a hit. With that being said as many have stated before me the drivetrain really needs to be fine tuned because if it’s performance and feel isn’t good that’s a bummer. Also I think bmw will price it under the E63S estate- I mean I hope, they always seems to price slightly under Mercedes for cars in the same class. We can hope

I agree that some people like them , but companies operate business strategy based on profit
so a low demand model , get cancelled even if some people like it
a lot of restaurants eliminate low demand dishes from their menu because it does not make business sense
I hope the demand will be high enough to be sustainable , but I have serious doubt about that

Taycan Cross Turismo waiting lists are much, much longer than the sedan (in the US). Basically you wait over a year for an allocation on the CT, the sedan maybe wait 4 months. Low volume with waiting lists will be fine, as long as demand holds. There are still waiting lists at my local Audi dealers for RS6 allocations.

It will be exactly the same as a daily. You don't gain any practicality in an m550 over an m5, other than cost.
