The M50 doesn't look too bad in my opinion. BMW has had far worse designs the past years. Could be an option to replace my G21 M340i in a few years.

I’m not the target market but I like it! Interior and exterior look fresh and modern. Will be nice to see these design elements get translated over to other models I’m interested in. These will be easy to sell, I think the design language will bring in new to the brand customers. Not sure where existing customers that don’t like the design will go, don’t know of any compelling alternatives in this price point that would make customers jump brands, but again I ain’t the target. Bold move BMW!

I will not be replacing our F25 with this model although that was a posibility. Time to check out Mazda or just buy older models when the time comes. |

The G01 starts off w/the 200+W HiFi system and can upgrade to the 464W HK. Since no one talked about the audio in reviews, there’s really no hope that it improved!

I read the design was a product forged during the throes of the Pandemic. I’m sure sourcing easy to get parts (i.e. cheap and available) was high on their mind when no one could see the light at the end of the tunnel just a few years back (could explain the environmentally friendly cloth option)!
In so doing, BMW forgot the X3 is no longer an entry model. The X1 re-design was probably determined at least a year before the Pandemic and seems to have gotten mostly positive reviews! Our G01s will age like fine wine based on what I see! |

the new 5 series has the HK as a base audio and B&W as a $900 upgrade... my hope was kind of that that's what would have happened... but that may be asking too much from BMW... and from personally listening to the B&W, it is really a true upgrade

Quad tips on the M50… Does that mean that there won’t be a X3M proper?
I recall that’s why the X1 M35 has quad tips |

So:
Textile/fabric dash and upper door trim TiVo availability as a touted option Touch or some kind of haptic system instead of buttons for the door lock switches Teeny, tiny, joke size HVAC vents controlled by joysticks I don’t understand the appeal. The interior video featuring the black interior reminded me of the pictures that auto magazines use for interiors of car prototypes covered by the black felt sheets used to hide design details until the car’s release. Have I gotten old and stuck in the past? Is this really better or is this cost savings like 1980s American cars…. Chassis and drivetrain will probably be excellent. Exterior design isn’t offensive to me. I just can’t believe the interior design BMW chose for one of its second best selling car.

My shower thought of the day looking at this car, and just seeing the F25 on the road today, that it awfully similar to new model in the sense of its big square ass section. That whole area looks boxy, same as on F25, which also happens to have angular headlights and less organic shape overall.
So to me this model is a bit of mix of IX and F25, and departs a lot from the outgoing X3. Interior - I see there is a way of integrating the large desktop version better, however - there is way more to do. I think the vertical screen is much better for navigation, while the landscape one is a little bit bad for the eyes to follow, doesnt fit navigation well, and too spread out. It tries to be like old school early gen navigation windows that almost copy the rear view mirror but on a dash and used for viewing. So yeah, not bad not terrible, and Id say both M sport and non M sport are distict enough to be on their own attractive. I like the face and rear, which is not been the case on most of BMWs. The IX3 face I liked more though with those little grilles that harck back to 1970s BMWs.

As a current G01 M40i owner I'm not horrified by the exterior. However, the interior is another story. I'm even ok with the bold LED lights, but the design is really disjointed. It looks like the door panels and dash are from two different vehicles as they don't flow/integrate at all. It's especially egregious on the passenger side where the "greater than sign" LEDs terminate into an awkward, vast slab of nothingness. I don't get it...

I like the exterior design overall, but inside it's otrageous....the interior design team deserve to be fired.

And unfortunately, the B&W system in the G60 is on the same level as Harman Kardon in the G30... There's no true high-end audio in the G60 anymore

Why couldn’t they just connect the lower front bumper area? I wish they stuck to more consistency in their designs. This is what I hoped it would look more like - excuse the shitty iPhone doodles lol

There will be no X4 as it is ending production 11/25. The iX4 will begin production 11/26.

Wow…ok…
I need to see this in person. Certain angles I think look cool, others are confusing, and I’m pretty sure the interior designers dropped acid and went to town when designing the interior.
