See a Miata chasing down and passing a GT500 on the STOCK 1.6 liter engine. What's the 0-60 difference between the two cars? Like 4-5 seconds.

Yet you think a half second is a world of difference. Seriously, spend some time on a track one day when you can, it's an eye opening experience for people who think a half second 0-60 time makes any difference in actual track performance.

Are you just typing to see the letters? Why do you have a GT3 RS when you could have just thrown slicks on a Cayman with the 2.7L? Fast can be fun, both in turns and the straights. I loved my Miata, especially at the track, but I also enjoyed my M Coupe at the track plenty. I lapped a Gallardo and also got beat up by plenty of Spec Miatas.

But back to the F30 vs a Lexus, since one comes with a stick, it's automatically more on my radar than the one that doesn't. I realize I'm a dying breed, but it still influences the cars I shop for.

I'm posting actual industry reviews of cars, with times, results and professional opinions so we can have an adult discussion about comparing brands. You were the one bringing up Miatae in context of GT500's and other faster cars. A non BMW driver has continued to provide valid argument for why the Lexus isn't the clear choice in enthusiast cars, but you keep trying to belittle him, frequently with oddly tangential arguments. If I read that correctly, that puts the IS350 dead even on the quarter mile with the 335.

Honestly, have you actually logged track time before? I would hope so since you're a former Lotus owner. I'm not asking this to belittle you, but I have the feeling you severely under-estimate how much of an advantage a more composed care in terms of steering feel and suspension calibration would have over a car with a mere half second advantage 0-60.

I've literally seen C63 AMGs get dusted by Miata's at Buttonwillow track in California, and Buttonwillow has two significantly long straights on the 18th and 19th turns (2.7 mile configuration). Doesn't matter because the C63 AMG is too busy trying to keep its butt from the front, or its front from the wall, and the Miata is cleaving those corners like hot butter. What is the difference in 0-60 times between the 2 cars? It's like 4 seconds man.

Best post in this whole thread. It's obvious Jericho never went to the track before because all he cares about is 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. You could have a 12 second car on the drag strip but still be dead last on the track against Miata, S2000, M3. I even got dusted by a slightly modded CRX bucket that has 100+ less horsepower than my car on Thunderhill.

I still can't believe you guys don't like the Q50! I drove one last weekend and it is incredible. Sure the VQ is not the smoothest engine out there but I don't really give a rat's ass about that. It sounds amazing and really feels alive on the road. It did feel a bit more refined in the Q50 than it did in my previous two G37's...

It does not look like from Subaru, there is no top mounted intercooler. It is a vent, not a scoop.

Congrats, you've scoured the net for the one time that helps your point versus the countless others that state the opposite. That's also a 2008 vehicle and if you read/trust reviews of those vintage cars, you'll find the 335i heavily favored. Here's one to get you started.

You guys are really having a tough time with this. Let's take the Lotus Exige for a moment to help illustrate my point. The 2006 and 2007 are nearly identical in every aspect except for the addition of a supercharger and thus 30 more hp in the 2007. Did that car suddenly get downgraded in terms or performance? No. The times improved and it separated the two by that much more.

This is a similar case with the 335i vs IS350. The advantage in handling is so slight that I really can not understand how you guys can say the IS350 is a better all around performer. Since you've spent time on a track, you should also know that speed will be the differentiating factor in two cars with comparable handling.
