Spent the day strolling around Oslo yesterday. It is a beautiful city with some stunning architecture and some great parks to walk through.

The Na Pali coast of Kauai, Hawaii.

Having just spent six days on the island, we did not get to see this fantastic sight. But if we were there a bit longer, I would want to take a boat ride to enjoy the scenery. It's either that or a helicopter tour, I believe; you can't get to Na Pali by land.

The Na Pali Coast is magical! Here are a couple of pics from the Norwegian Cruise that my wife and I have done five times! (absolute best way to see Hawaii)

Unfortunately, they no longer include the afternoon cruise along the coast when departing Kauai in their current itineraries. But, you can do a small boat cruise. We did one with Na Pali Pirates last year.

Ya, mon. Happy grass.

I saw One Love on the flight back from Sandy Eggo. Good flick. Could have benefited from more music and concert scenes. But man, lots of ganja smokin' in that movie.

The widest ship in the world, the MV Pioneering Spirit was built in Korea 10 years ago and is a heavy lift ship. It can lift an oil or gas platform weighing almost 50,000 tons. The dimensions are 382 meters long and a beam (width) of 124 meters (= 1253 feet x 406 feet). The question that occurs to me is what dry dock can such a ship fit into in case repairs are needed?

We’ve spent the day going from Bergen to Myrdal and then the Flam railway to do a Fjord cruise.

The sheer size and beauty has to be seen to be believed!

You can get there by land on foot: 22 miles round trip. A heck of a hike and you need permits.

Back in the mid '90s I hiked the Na Pali coast with my son and his scout troop as part of their "50 miler" backing trip. The hike was 7 days in total including Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali coast. What an incredible experience.

When my son asked me to go in it with him I gave him excuses: I'm too old. I'm too overweight. I'm too busy at work. He said, "Dad, the hike is in six months; lose weight and clear yours calendar because you are going on this trip." The trip was amazing. Now, my son is a Scout Master and they are planning a 50 miler on Kauai next year. He's invited me to go again almost 30 years after I told him I was "too old". I'm going to do it again!
