the math one? the teacher is a dumbass, she/he thought 2 boards in 10 minutes means it took 5 minutes per one(10/2=5), but in all actuality the person sawed through the board in 10 minutes so making 3 boards would yield sawing twice which is 20 minutes, so the student was right

Not really. I mean you are correct but it really depends on how the board is shaped :P If a rectangular board takes 10 minutes to saw through long wise, then sawing the next piece short wise could only take 5 minutes :P The question really needs to state whether it wants three equal sized boards or not.

rule number 1 of any test....simplify questions down to the simplest elements....judging by that question and the teachers incorrect answer, I highly doubt this was a high level college math class
