Don't flame! The above statement was a complete joke! I would never basterdize either car.

Too bad some people can't get past the fact the the "Whee doggy, crack me open another brewski, I'm gonna watch JR. does some burnouts at Daytona", "white trash" chevy just basiclly blews the doors off of all of its compeditors. So those people bring up the "Well, its just not a Mercedes-Benz" "I have little windshield wipers that keep my headlights clean in a rainstorm".
Even if I preferred the ZR1 I would chose the Mercedes, then sell it and buy an ZR1 and a Porsche 911 GT2 and still have some change.

You're implying that all of the said cars are used, right? Because a brand new 997 GT2 would definitely cost more than the SL65 because of markups and options, which the Merc doesn't really have (pretty much comes fully loaded).

Nop, not implying anything, Fact is GT2 lists for $191,500 with cc discs etc... and ZR1 is about $100,000, SL65 BL is about 300,000.

Well, now the ZR1 wins by default. The SL65 Black Series will NOT be coming to the USA.

Bahaha! Go figure. Though I never thought these were actually in competition with each other.

I just saw the new Top Gear and I thought we should bring this up again. They haven't tested a ZR1 yet, but it's been faster than the Z06 ever time it's been tested. The Z06 is faster than the SL65BS.

As odd as it seems, they really are often cross shopped. When a guy is looking to spend a lot of money on a performance car, these 2 cars might be looked at. Just look at how many "should i get a 335 or a C6" threads pop up here.

No doubt the ZR1 is faster than the SL Black, its a much, much lighter car with a powerful engine and much better power to weight and probably better torsional rigidity since the Black was based off a vert chassis (this is entirely speculative on my behalf and realize this). Straight line above a certain high speed may be close when the Black´s torque comes in to its own, but its got to lug a humongous 771 pounds more than the ZR1. But, I don´t think people than buy an SL Black consider the ZR1 a competitor, they buy the Black because of exclusivity, looks, finishing, niceties, etc... Its really pointless to make a few seconds more or less on the Nurburgring as the vast majority of drivers will never ever drive these vehicles at the extreme, its all marketing.

Hahaha!! Very fair point. Happens every day as unbelievable as this comparison is. I suppose however that if you seek pure performance, it would have to be the ZR1 over the Black.

Soo why would you buy a 300k car if you main goal of buying it is TRYING to beat a car that cost way less? IMO if I had a choice between them for FREE, then it's obviously the Merc. you just don't see one everywhere, and yes the ZR1's maybe also be hard to find...but it's not like your average joe will know the difference unless he notices the badges or the window on the hood (which is a nice touch) Although the ZR1 would be the better DD.....but why would I want to DD a 300k

If you can afford a $300K car, then I am sure you can afford some other vehicle for a DD.

To be blunt and on topic...

The ZR-1 crushes the SL65 in every category except comfort. The SL65 Black series is equally unimpressive other than it's appearance which I have to say is bad-ass.

Yep, I think this is an accurate description.

MB really dropped the ball on the SL65 BS. It is quite a looker, but it should be well under 4000lbs. This car has much torque and is very easy to drive, but the weight is a killer. It definitely does not feel like my CLK63 BS, albeit, my car is about 3800lbs.
