i’d much rather a ham sandwich than dog shit wrapped in cat shit.

the more i look at the X3, the more i dislike it. i can dismiss everything else, but the grill shape and headlight design is simply unforgivable.

Exterior is OK, but the interior is unacceptable for this price and a clear downgrade from the previous generation. This and the new 5 series make it clear that BMW is prioritizing cost cutting in their new interiors.

That's pretty much why 80% of Audis look good inside and out, new models are just iterative designs. The only ones that I don't find attractive are the Q7 and A7 and that's probably because they're the only ones that don't look like the rest of the line up.

No need to fix what isn't broken.

Even the 2025 i4 interior is much better laid out. BMW could have saved money just copying that instead of re-inventing the G45 interior from the same parts bin anyway.

FWIW, I see the price on the M50 as being a bit high given that the car is about the same size as the G01 and it’s only up 10 or 11 horsepower over the M40. Base price of 65k means a well-optioned car is going to be a bit north of 70k. I reserve full judgement for once I see the options list and the cost of options.

Exterior is fine but that interior look really cheap and basic.

I think the exterior looks great.
Actually, this new X3 M50 looks better than the current X3M.

I was seriously considering the X3 this time as it was finally an SUV i can consider buying, but they softened it down again and gave it weirdass design.

Sigh back to more searching

It’s great. I love it.

It just has 2 problems:
1- There is no competition. Literally, nothing can compete with this in the market, which makes BMW too comfortable.

2- X5. Best selling BMW in americas, with giant profit margins. They have to make sure X3 doesn’t appeal to X5 customer, which they do: They’re keeping the size the same, they’re holding back on a lot of luxury equipment, and they’re very careful not to make the interior too ‘luxury’ feeling.

Lack of split tailgate is disappointing. It's what separated the true "SUV" from the babies, and allowed for a more aggressive rear.

To be fair, it seems that quite a few options have now become standard, e.g. M Sport Differential on the M50.

Good point. That is why I’m reserving full judgement until I see a USA ordering guide and option prices.

To make matters worse , which is tough , aside from terrible seats now you can’t program or code out ASS and no button either? Another deal killer even if we liked the new design lol. Might be time to hunt down an x3m from 22 or 23 and call it a day lol. It’s not only bmw, many manufacturers are ruining great cars and designs like my scat pack. They want me next to buy an ugly charger with an electric motor lol. Dodge will end up like bmw with non existent sales of some models. At least these x3’s still have the b58 ice. What’s wrong with all these people ruining great designs . The market will teach them like it’s doing with ev sales in general… vw just came out and said they are reversing billions away from ev back into ice designs, at least some are reversing course and their poor decisions lol

I agree with your number 2 statement. But, being a normal x5/x6 customer myself, I went with a G01 over the G05/6 anyway. The main reason I did this is the 30k spread between a G01 M40 and a G05/6 M60. Despite the more luxurious nature of the G05/6 compared with the G01, the amount of luxurious improvement seemed smaller than with prior models and the price difference greater. When I had my E70 and F15 era cars, they were far better than the same era X3 and the price spread was much less than the 30k it is now. Just my take on this and why I got the M40 over the M60.

A Corolla is a ham sandwich. This is like going to Ruth’s Chris and finding out they’re serving Salisbury steak
