You know you're old when you get your first dose of vaccine on February 6 and then schedule your second for 3 weeks later on February 27, but by your mistake you choose March instead of February. You go down on February 27 excited about getting your second dose and they politely say, "you need to come back in another month". I am officially and idiot.
Good news: They took care of me anyway. |

...you change your oil because the sticker on the window tells you it's time, even though you've only driven 25 miles.

^ An older friend has a favorite saying... Never pass up a bathroom, never trust a fart and never waste a hard on. Sage advice indeed!

This cracks me up! Reminds me of my dear Auntie (G-d bless her soul) who put about 52 miles on her car in a year...going 1 mile to the hairdresser and back home every week.

Am I the only person who has trouble every year with annual state vehicle inspections getting rejected for odometer tampering because some of my cars don't clock 25 miles in a year? The inspection station has to call the DMV mothership and ask them to override the flag, telling them each time that the car came in on a trailer and did not appear to be driven much.....

This is a '1950' (est) photograph. My grandmother is the lady standing on the right of this picture, next to her my grandfather. In the centre : that little girl smiling is my mother(she passed away in 2009 already) Cheers Robin |

A friend of mine worked in the garage at a Chrysler dealership many years ago. One day there was a big company wide meeting to raffle off the chance to buy a car that came in on trade. If you were interested you put your name in the hat for the draw. The car in question was a ten year old 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 4MT. The elderly lady that traded it in was quite disappointed with the gas mileage and wanted something more fuel efficient. She voiced her complaint as such, "This car is just too hard on gas. I have to fill it up every January." The car was ten years old and had only burned 10 tanks of gas. Needless to say there were a lot of names in the hat.

Pumping gas at 16 was one of my first jobs. On day 1 the station owner said "when the lady shows up in the Chrysler Imperial you come get me...don't touch her car." He had that dad-stare...
Next week she pulls up "fill 'Er up Sonny". I say "yes ma'am" and run for Steve. He comes out and washes her windows, checks her oil, just opens the radiator cap and looks in (no explosion), then pumps about ten cents of gas and...click, full. She hands him a quarter and waits for change, then gives him a nickel tip. He respectfully accepts, nods, shuts the hood and wipes where he touched, and she drives off as he waves. "She's been coming here for fill-up once a week when she goes five blocks for groceries...for the last 20 years. (That's why the radiator was cold.) If I'm ever sick that's how she's treated". It was nice to see the old way...the right way...

Just received an email that one of my favorite racing buddies for the past 20+ years succumbed to COVID a few days ago. Needless to say, I'm feeling even older this morning.....
