IS 500s are starting to pop up again. My dealer is trying to find one in a color I want. If that doesn't work out, RS3 at MSRP for me. Doesn't really matter how fast/capable the new CTR is, after my F80 M3, I realized if the exhaust sounds like dogshit, I won't keep it long. The CTR might be the worst sounding turbo 4 I've heard in a sports sedan. Which at 45k maybe that's acceptable, but sure as hell not at 65+. Just my 2 cents.

I get the dealer markup piece. There are few vehicles I would pay ADM on and this isn't one of them. The ADMs on this car will fall, it's just a matter of time. It would happen sooner if these knuckleheads would stop paying these wild ADMs.
I also likely have a different perspective than the masses who have an interest in this car. My interest in this vehicle is as a novelty and for nostalgic value. It would not be a daily nor a weekend car. |

Wanted to bump this back up since it's been months since there was dialogue on this. I was initially neutral on this car when it was released and it has grown on me exponentially. So much so that I realized I needed to have it, but on my terms. When I was a wee lad I grew up on Hondas like many of you here and I've always had a soft spot for the performance variants whether it was the RSX Type S or the vehicles wearing the Type R badge. I'm not here to argue the merits of a FWD performance car or convince people why they should or shouldn't like it. I'm narrowly focused on my interest in the car and why I decided to pick one up.
Anyhow, I was able to secure an allocation at MSRP and the vehicle arrived this morning. It's filthy but that's completely fine with me. I asked the dealership to not PDI the car. They generally agreed but stated there are a few things they are required to do per Honda. Most of the plastic is still on the car; however, they did remove the shipping blocks from the suspension so I appreciated that. No driving impressions as I literally pulled it in and started looking it over. Here are a few photos:

Love that you went with the white to offset all the red accents and badging. You'll have to let us know what you think of the venturi-style passive exhaust notes at different speeds and RPMs.

Great pick up! I'd love to have one as well (bring back memories of my JDM loving youth).

Agreed. Looks more grown up than the previous gen. Simple, elegant and clean lines.

The CTR represents something more and different for me. What tipped the scales is a confluence of factors. It has a standard transmission, high nostalgic value (coming of age as a car enthusiast in the JDM era), the growing fear (real or perceived) that these types of cars won't be around much longer as we know them, and the fact that Honda absolutely nailed this iteration of the CTR. After consuming countless reviews on YouTube and magazine publications, it's hard to not at least be a little intrigued. With that said, I did not cross shop other vehicles. I knew I wanted the CTR and was narrowly focused on securing an allocation. I loosely followed the GR Corolla and Golf R but never entertained purchasing either. They're really good cars in their own right and appear to be a lot of fun. It's a good thing to have options within a segment.

^I saw this earlier today. Thanks for posting it here. Very impressive time! I expected the FL5 to best the FK8 but didn't think the margin would be this large.

After striking out on the FL5 due to the insane ADMs and being unimpressed with the Corolla GR, I ended up picking up this beast. 6MT and only 740 miles on the clock.

Very nice! The Golf R is a good looking car and the aftermarket tuning support is superb! Enjoy it in good health.
