I always have Waze on in the background for alerts. And even if Apple Maps is currently on the screen, I still get a verbal warning from Waze that there is a police stop up ahead.

Similar setup here.

I prefer BMW navigation in the HUD/display with WAZE in the background via CarPlay for audio only alerts. WAZE provides speed camera audio alerts, if you’re over the speed limit approaching a camera, but the BMW system provides a visual countdown in the HUD and an audio alert irrespective of car speed. This setup works great for me.

I use voice and gesture control with the BMW navigation, which is useful.

No. But it's easy to hands free change the screen content with "Hey Siri" or to quickly use a pull down App Shortcut (created in iDrive 9).

I haven’t used Apple Maps for a while, but does it now support full UK fixed speed camera, avg speed zone etc warnings on the latest iOS 18.1x ?
