I'm an electrical engineer. Arduino is great to start off with. Teaches you a lot of the basics to programming a microprocessor and there are tons of great projects on the internet to do.

If you enjoy programming the arduino, start teaching yourself C. It's necessary for any engineering and is really the bottleneck to most people in school.

Usually engineers are viewed as those with no social skills that sit on a computer all day haha. Kinda funny how there are no engineers on here though.

Didn't realize we had so many CPAs/Accountants in this thread. I'm kinda nervous to start! I have no idea what to expect!

I ended up getting this laid back job at a law/accounting firm after I got EY on my resume. Here I would say I work about 1000-1200 hours a year compared to EY's 2600-3200. Good luck man. Lol.
I've heard horror stories about the big four. Like 70-80 hours a week during the internship. I feel like that's kind of intimidating to a student.

I would be surprised if you have those kind of hours during an internship, maybe if you intern during busy season, but typically interns are treated well because they want you to come work for them. Then you'll work the insane hours.

I might have missed it, what is your focus; tax, audit?

Audit. I enjoyed my tax classes way more than my financial accounting classes but I can't spend my life in a cube doing tax returns. I'd go crazy. That's why I picked audit.

Yep. Impossible to have those hours during internship in Big 4. No way in hell they will pay you that much overtime. Haha. I worked 50 hrs max only one week during 8 week internship at EY. Full time I have worked max 80 hours. Insane! So glad got it on my resume and moved on. Couldn't do 5 years. I would have gone bald.

I'm just kinda glad I'm not at the big four yet. I wanna go back and get an MBA. I'd rather do it while working at a smaller company instead of not being able to do it because I'll be busy with work all the time at a larger company.
