Depends on cash and is it a show piece or carry. Probably $3k for a showpiece, $1500 carry +/-

My wife just did her PAL restricted training here in Canuckistan, so now she can have restricted firearms. Handguns, semi-auto rifles etc. She want's a pistol, what should I get her first.....FTR I am a just retired police officer carried a Glock model 22 in .40cal (a real crowd pleaser) for the last 20 or so years.....I'm partial to that but that's my comfort zone for a daily companion.....she wants to get ready for the Zombie apocalypse

I like semi auto pistols, but was thinking about a Lady Smith for her to start.

Your thoughts?

Its natural you'd feel more comfortable with a Glock 22, or any other Glock for that matter. Its what youre most familiar with, by far.

But if you go S&W, their M&P line and shield line are great pistols for beginners and veterans.

I recently went to Reds gun range right outside of Austin and was very surprised at how stocked they were.

For a low price you can rent a wide variety of guns and test them out for as long as you want. Classy place. I would recommend it to everyone.

If go glock 17 ior 19 if she can carry. Less kick than the 22 so she'll like it better. More rounds and it'll work for you too.

i would stay away from small revolvers for anyone who may be recoil sensitive, they are really made for carry

Let her pick it out.
Mine went to 4 shops, looked at 25, narrowed it down to
go to the range and rent 8 to test.
After the smoke had cleared, she got a Sig P238 w/ nite sights and laser.

it was what SHE could shoot well, and easily operate.
(the real shocker......................SHE paid for it)

Love my 238 SAS! Highly recommend this to anyone actually. My mom has one as well and my dad got a 938 for the slightly larger frame.

It was a show piece. An original Swenson.

I walked at $4500 knowing the other guy was only 7 dollars above me. I just didn't want to be into it for that much money. By the time the dust settled it would have been five thousand. Every once in a while I see his work for less and will just pick one up later.

Just like some else said take her shopping and let her decide. Make sure it is at least a 9mm. Then hit the ranges and have some fun making sure she is proficient with it.

Thank you for your service.

Go to the range and pay the rental fee and let her try a bunch. All you'll get here are a bunch of biased opinions, because what feels good in the hand to one person doesn't always reflect on someone else. I have a 9mm S&W Shield. It's small, I'm a smaller framed dude, so it works. Easy to conceal and walk around with. Also, you have to take the budget into account on how much you're/she's willing to spend.
