Hi All, my current X3 30i lease will expire by Jan 2025.. I am considering between 2025 X3 M50 or Audi Q6 etron. I believe some of you may consider an ICE car vs jump to EV? Both SUV is 2025 model and not arrive in North America yet, so only youtube video test drive available.

- In Canada, a loaded X3 M50 is approx 10% cheaper than Q6 etron (mid trim)
- The physical size is similar
- I think X3 exterior is better but Q6 interior feel more luxury based on picture. ( both car said "Sustainability" in their design theme )
- I think X3 more sporty (better handling) vs Q6. The 0-100km time is similar.
- I assume running cost for EV will be lower.

Any opinion, also suggestions...

Why not wait for the new Q5 and see how this compares to the X3? That might be a
more direct rival for sure.

There is no Q5 redesign for MY2025 I believe - so it’s atleast another calendar year away.

I’ve seen the Q6 on the roads here, and it looked pretty good, better than the M50 to me having seen both in the flesh. The interior also appears much higher quality than the M50 top spec.

Clearly, you need to decide if ICE or EV is for you, and determine which drive characteristics you prefer, and that will likely require a test drive.

As mentioned it's a shame the new Q5 will arrive a little too late for you.

Honestly I'd try to find a new M40i somewhere and see if you can break the lease early. Like the looks way more than the new one.

I did explore the M40i path and it is an absolute upgrade from 30i, but the interior is so similar to my current car (mu current 30i is fully loaded) So am need something fresh. Timing is against me at the moment as I need a new car by Mid-Jan 2025.

I lean toward the Q6 EV, but the Tesla charger story was pending for months.. without access to Tesla fast charger, EV can be troublesome. This all keep push me back to M50

I cross-shopped the X3 M50 and SQ5 and felt it was an easy choice. Interior aside the X3 M50 was superior. Obviously don't have it yet but I say go for it!

New SQ5/Q5.... interiors are very similar I guess they are all copying each other...

I checked 2 youtube video.. I don't like the front, also Audi spent way too much focus on lights which I really not care as it's for others to look.. One more, in one video, the guy adjusted the driver seat to his setup, and when he seat in the back, it's so TIGHT. Also, reference to CarAndDriver, no mild hybrid system for North America Q5s???? Anyway, I think this Q5 won't arrive Canada till April or later.

OMG, the next 2025 Audi Q5 looks just like the last one. They didn’t even try to make it look different. I know some people don’t like the looks of the BMW X3 G45, but at least BMW designers tried to make it look different and somewhat modern looking. The Audi Q5 looks like it was designed over 10 years ago.

it looks more like face lifting, in fact rear lifting

i don't like shape of rear light seeing from the side perspective

and why the rear diffuser is blue?
this black part above looks like designed for fake exhaust
this black part should be IMO till end of diffuser

M50 is more agressive, but SQ5 is more luxury inside
The question is what you expect - sport or luxury?

SQ5 with engine hanging before front axles probably will be more understeer

The question is what you expect - sport or luxury?

What’s sporty or luxury about the G45 interior or exterior ?

The only attempt at sporty that I can see on the G45 is a red band on the steering wheel, twin exhausts, and that rather cheap looking M badge near the cup holders. The G45 seats are the least sporty or luxury I could imagine, and the M Sport seats are no longer an option.
