Nice colour, shame about the rest.

Gotta say, when the initial photos appeared, I didn’t like it. When I viewed one in the flash at GFS, I liked it even less, because it screamed cheap.

I guess it is what it is, and the current X5 is the closest BMW option that’s still premium feeling, until BMW cheap it out with the next model.

Different strokes for different folks. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But don't discount the fact that some of us have different aesthetic preferences and assign different values to the same.features.

You don't have to agree. But it doesn't make the rest of us fools or shills.

That is what is so frustrating….. we’re running out of alternatives.

Totally get that design preference is subjective; however, your point above in bold is spot-on.

Exactly right.
It is not realistic nor meaningful for someone to announce that one vehicle looks objectively "better" than another. It is only honest and true for them to indicate that they like one more, a subjective opinion for every individual.

I agree, I think this new X3 is for the young and hip customers who love the flashy things. traditional customers won't like it much.

Not according to my 20 something kids. Apparently it’s ugly.

Not sure what demographics BMW is targeting, maybe RNIB members ?

It would be interesting to know the age groups of those placing orders for the G45 on this forum.

Absolutely, some people paid money for those cars on the world ugliest car charts, and there are no shortage of apologists.

I get people like the aesthetics of those plastic door handles….

No need to justify.

My 15.5 soon to be driving son didn’t like it at all. Interior and exterior.

The defining difference will not be demographic. It will be psychographic. Demographically identical people can have widely varying preferences. However, buyers can be psychographically clustered based on similar preferences. This is the more meaningful technique to target consumers and how most OEMs now do their analyses versus in the prior century.

Exactly. My demographic peers are all over the map in their aesthetic preferences. It's too simplistic and reductionist to describe the distribution as (for example) "young people like LEDs and screens, old people like leather and buttons".

“One of the cornerstones of BMW's marketing success is its astute understanding of its target audiences. While the brand appeals to a diverse range of consumers, it primarily targets:*
1. Affluent Professionals: BMW's core demographic comprises successful professionals, typically aged 30–50, with higher levels of income. These individuals value both performance and luxury in their vehicles.*
2. Driving Enthusiasts: BMW caters to driving enthusiasts who appreciate the brand's commitment to delivering a dynamic and exhilarating driving experience.*
3. Tech-Savvy Consumers: BMW recognizes the importance of staying ahead in terms of automotive technology. It appeals to tech-savvy consumers who seek the latest innovations in their vehicles.*
4. Environmental Consciousness: In recent years, BMW has also extended its appeal to environmentally conscious consumers by introducing electric and hybrid models.*
By understanding and catering to these distinct segments within its target audience, BMW ensures that its marketing efforts resonate effectively.”

You get that right. So, if more people dislike it, I would wait to see the sale figures. Hopefully, I can get a 10% discount.

sales seems to be below expectations.

In Gemany you can get up to 16% discount, but that's for the german prices. A X3 M50 fully loaded is listing at €95000,- incl VAT.

One user postet that he would get the car in December if he ordered it now. Usually it's 5-6 month for a X3 due to the shipping.

I'm waiting for the demo car to arrive at my dealer in November and take a look.

If It's ok, I'm thinking about a M50 as this might be the last 6-cylinder in a X3. MB already removed the 6-cylinder for the GLC in the lineup.

Interesting in Europe re buttons and NCAP safety….. maybe they are old people.

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...chscreens.html

“New safety tests due to arrive in 2026 will put fresh pressure on car makers to dial back confusing touchscreen systems that can be distracting for drivers to use on the move.

From January 2026, crash testing body Euro NCAP will introduce rules that downgrade the safety ratings of new vehicles that do not have buttons on the dashboard to control simple operations such as indicating and activating hazard warning lights.

Brands including Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Volkswagen and Volvo are today offering larger, more advanced touchscreens with more controls embedded into them that are convoluted to use while driving.

This is said to be 'undermining' the ban on using a phone at the wheel, which since March 2022 will land motorists who touch their device with six penalty points on your licence and a £200 fine (and if, within two years of passing your test, will cost you your licence) if caught by the police or roadside cameras.

For years, road safety experts have been warning that the latest cars are proving an increasingly distracting danger.

This has been fuelled by the growing trend for manufacturers to scrap traditional push-button knobs, switches and dials on car dashboards and replace them with large computer-tablet-style touchscreens.”
