Has anyone taken delivery of a build with the woven textile dashboard?

Curious what the early verdict is so far based on real experience living with this finish day in and day out.

I have it and it’s pretty tough. This isn’t a fine woven texture so I think it will hold up. I think it looks better with it then without. It just gives a more continuous look throughout the cabin instead of just a fabric patch in the corner which I don’t think looks good.

I assume the intent of the designer was to have it throughout. It seems to be very durable.

When I looked at the demo car at my dealer I was quite suprised it's not a soft touching surface you would expect from woven textile. The knit also is not movable or can be liftet. It's a very rigid and rough touching surface and I don't think it will be pulling strings..

As much as I like the look after seeing it in person the more I'm concerned to keep it clean with the open surface. It'll easily collect dust and dirt..

I'll visit my dealer tomorow to place my order on a M50 and I'm still undecided wether to take the textile dash or not. Will take my wife with me so she can give her opinion on it.

Saw it at the dealership. Living in a desert I opted to not have to try to clean the dust out of it. Plus being in the medical profession it resembles stretched out gauze containing a chemical debridement cream mixed with the exudate from necrotic wounds

I wonder if the woven textile has better sound dampening characters. Hence in turn, making the cabin seem quieter. In theory it should, because rough gritty surfaces absorb sound better than hard smooth surfaces. Has anyone noticed any difference regarding sound?

I am also in that medical profession and I cannot say I had that thought at all. It’s a very rough well fit surface. I like the look but don’t know how durable it would be but I change my cars every 3 to 5 years so not really worried about it.

It’s better than I thought it would be when I initially ordered the car. I kind of made the order on a whim honestly and was pleasantly surprised.

Has any brave/unfortunate soul here tried deep cleaning the textile dash yet? It seems everyone is concerned about the potential cleaning challenge. It'd be useful to learn from anyone's actual attempts at cleaning it.

Has anyone had a G45 long enough to get the usual detritus on the dash or door cards to warrant a proper clean ?

My concern would be stuff becoming embedded in the weave over time, especially with kids/pets if being used a family daily.

It’s thick and tough material. It’s not a fine weave. It will withstand a strong wipe or scrub. I don’t know if it will absorb liquids and stain. It seems like a weave of thick polyester. For dust and things like that it should be easy to clean.

Sorry, I should have used the manufacturer's description which is "knitted" material, rather than weave.

It looks like it would trap stuff inside the "knit" structure because it isn't smooth like vinyl or leather.

That said, I'd be happy to learn it can be just wiped down easily after the typical family use. Sunscreen is a PITA, and I don't know where the detritus comes from, it just seems to appear LOL.

I hate dust on top of the dash! I always keep a "Swiffer duster" handy in my driver side door. it use static to clean all dust. My friend use it very successfully with his Mini wave fabric dashboard.

Also, as per BMW, it is NOT textile, it is Polyester, so you can wash it with baby wipe without discolour it. Lots of EVs use those material in the car nowadays.

Mini, which is BMW had textile dashboards with the 2023 model. So it's nothing new in the BMW group.
