2025 X3 M50 run on Autobahn
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com First video I have seen the 2025 X3 M50 being driven on the autobahn (I assume) with speeds well above 160km/hr (100mph) going up to 250 km/hr (155mph). The limiter is set to 155mph then from the video the car looks so stable, wind noise is low and it looks so effortless going all the way to that speed. I really wonder what the engine could do without the limiter on. 19 min in video the action starts. |

I went to buy one for the wife last week. We drove tge M50 and was extremely disappointed in the QC and interior. We swapped from that to a 2024 X5 instead

Honestly, having a G87 M2 for the past year and the M50 now... yeah, the M2 is obviously faster but the X3 M50 is pretty damn fast for what it is. I know it won't ever achieve parity with an M2 but if there was anything I'd prefer to improve from a performance perspective on the M50 it'd be the handling in the twisties vs. throwing an S58 in it.
That said, overall, it's already so darn good for everyday driving which is the majority of what I use it for so my worry would be that improving the "sporty" handling would decrease it's comfort during "normal" driving. It's a difficult needle to thread, IMO, but the M50 does the balance between sporty and comfortable driving quite good as-is. |

I own a 2022 X3MC, bought it new. The ride is firm, but not rough. It is very compliant in comfort mode. I have also owned 2 X3 M40i’s. The X3MC is definitely firmer than the X3 M40i, but not uncomfortable. Imo.

I have owned, and own several sport cars. Stiff suspension, and even they are better at absorbing hits. It must be because of the heavy weight and stiff suspension on the X3MC that it was just unbearable for me. |

The X3 M50 replaced a B9.5 S4 and the former is not just faster but handles better — and I'm not trying to troll Audi, lots to love about them. But wow is the M50 a performant vehicle. Last edited by RobM2; 11-05-2024 at 02:54 PM.. |

I just looked at the car and was suprised at few things-
It really does look and feel like a economy car in some areas, particularly the entire door areas. I reminds me of the ID.4 in the look and feel of the materials. The Idrive controller has some wierd haptic clicking mechanism. I can’t make it out but coming from the G05 it feels completely unnatural. Also the merino leather is not premium feeling at all. I’ve heard reports that seat comfort is improved but these seats while softer in the bottom cushion are very firm in the upper seat back area. I personally found them uncomfortable, and if your expecting anything like the Merino seats in the X5 prepare to be dissatisfied. On the plus side, the HK system is a huge improvement, probably the best HK system BMW has on offer currently. The steering wheel feels great in your hands. Visibility is great and the rear seat room is excellent for its size. |

Personally I much prefer the B58 to the S58. B58 sounds better, gets 25-30% better fuel economy, has zero lag (S58 is dead below about 3200RPM), and it has proven itself to be the most reliable BMW engine probably ever built. I wish BMW offered their own factory performance software because loads of people would buy it and not have to worry about voiding their warranty.

And so much freaking lag/no power unless the engine is on boil above 3000rpm. When I drove an X3M Comp I was really disappointed by the normal drivability of the engine. Going up even a minor slope the car would have to downshift 2-3 gears to have enough power to maintain speed even with the transmission and drive mode set to their most efficient settings. The B58 pulls like a freight train from idle to redline with so much low end torque it never needs to downshift unless you are trying to pass someone. I also love the low baritone sound of the B58 that sounds distinctly inline-6 whereas I’ve always thought the S55 and S58 sounded way too much like high revving old school American OHV V6s like the old GM 3800.
