Run flats

Does the G45 X3 30e xDrive M Sport come with run flats.

Also do BMW still use run flats.

As far as I can see, the majority of G45s will be non run flat.

In the US, all the wheel/tire options for the G45 are non-runflats. Not sure about what you're seeing in the UK. But I'm guessing this is a sign that BMW is generally phasing out RFTs in the US market, at the very least.

(Edit) I just remembered that the current 5-series (G60) was also introduced with all non-runflats. My bet is that every new gen (and possibly LCI) from here on will be non-runflats.

Non run flats are generally cheaper size for size, so it makes sense given the massive cost cutting BMW is applying to its new stuff, so to BMW cheaper is better.

Wonder how much of the BMW scream cheap decisions are to cover potential ZEV mandate fines? Under proposed plans here, by 2030 80% of new cars sold by a manufacture must be electric, or be hit with a fine of £15k for every car that doesn’t achieve this target. Currently the ZEV target is 22% but is planned to rise each year until 2030.

The big concern here is that consumer interest in EV’s is low, and the majority or sales are business employee related to BIK tax beaks. However, from 2025 some of the current tax advantages on EV will disappear compounding the issue.

BMW use run flats on some models i.e. latest X5,X6,X7 etc

Afaik the G45 doesn’t have a run flat option, so spare or repair kit.

They still had contracts to fulfill for those older chasis, which is why you continue to see them, but the new 5 series, new X3, etc., are not going to have RFT. BMW cited sustainability/environmental factors.

The old green wash lol. Seems BMW is hiding cheaping out the new models on this. It just happens to cost less lol

I was told by a dealer that BMW can get slightly better range with EVs that have the low rolling resistance go-flat tires, so they are not using run-flats.

While cost cutting could be a factor, in this case it's a positive change IMO. I prefer non-RFTs for performance and ride quality, and I think many other folks would agree.

And since the spare tire (donut) is now standard and doesn't require elevating the trunk surface (like on the G01), this decision doesn't compromise other aspects of the car.

I prefer RFT, particularly with more that one flat in the middle of nowhere.
