Any private pilots here?
I am signing up for a private pilot's license course right now. Anyone on here who already has one? I just thought it can be a pretty fun hobby.

Yesir!!! Have had my private for a few years now and am currently working on my instrument rating (the next step after the private). You'll know whether it's for you after the first lesson or two. Just make sure you find a reputable flight school/CFI for your training will make the process soooo much more enjoyable. If you need any advice shoot me a PM.
There's a couple other pilot's around here too

I have one... it's fun but not really worth it... both cost and time. It is something that you truly need to have a passion and time for... otherwise, you will get it and then fly maybe twice a year.
Not to discourage you... but it requires a lot of passion.

I'm an airline pilot, got my private single first and then added private multi, eventually got instrument and then commercial single and multi (I fly for a Part 135 airline, therefore not requiring an ATP)
I would say definitely go for it if you're really into it but you'll need a lot of passion and dedication as the others said above. It is definitely worth it though. When I'm not flying for work, I'm flying for fun. Don't know what I'd do if I couldn't fly. Let me know if you have any questions!

I've had my CFI for 18 years. Don't currently instruct but I do keep my certificate valid. My recommendation would be to keep your goals manageable to start. Take your intro flight and decide if you want to continue, then focus on soloing, then your cross country work, then the checkride for the certificate. Best of luck and let me/us know if you have any specific questions.

Navy family here. We're either undersea or in the air "feet wet"
I've been flying privately for quite a few years. It gets a bit pricey (to be nice) but if it is either truly a passion or a career path you'd like to pursue then I say go for it. |

What others have said if you don't have the passion for it after a few lessons then maybe it isn't for you. I don't fly for a living but definitely try to get up in the plane at least once a week if only for an hour.
Do you fly out of BCT?
