Arrow Automotive paint that glows AND switches on and off...

This looks pretty wild...

...an Ohio motorcycle customizer has been working on the ultimate eye-catching tool —paint that would not only glow, but switch on and off...

Pretty cool. Not honestly sure how I feel about it though.

Yes, it is. Just think what we will have to work with in five or ten years for paint products.

This will take customisation to another level. Quite cool.

It looks really cool but could be extremely distracting at night when all the cars are flashing. Good for emergency and police vehicles but I don't think a good idea for the general public.

Will probably end up like underbody lighting - interesting effect, but ultimately outlawed as too distracting to other drivers.

Very neat and innovative idea.

Probably illegal in most states just like how underglow is illegal in the state of CA (for distraction).

"Complicated multi-layer coating that includes a conductive base, two-wire connections to electrical power, an insulating primer coat and the final lighting top coat. The lights have a half-life of 10,000 hours, and take a minimal amount of electricity.

While the paint goes on using the same tools found in any body shop or hobbyist's garage, Darkside Scientific says the coatings are tricky enough to require years of painting experience followed by weeks of training to apply correctly. Every patch has to have its own connection, plus there's the controllers necessary for pulling tricks off like the glowing Tesla demonstrates.

And as for cost, a small demonstration part for a motorcycle runs $300, and Darkside doesn't quote a base price due to the complexities of each job, but a car-size application would likely run into the tens of thousands of dollars."

You can practically buy a whole new car for that price though....

Doesn't seem to bad cost-wise actually, when you consider a pro paint job on a hotrod would likely cost 12-15k anyways.
