Nissan GTR(R35) gets it's first official TUNER.

A well known company in Japan named 'MINE'S', has developed a new exhaust system for the newly released Nissan GTR(The car has been on sale in Japan since 3 weeks).

I am happy that the exhaust upgrade is already out(before it comes to USA and other places) because the GTR simply sounds like a more powerful 350Z. which doesn't do any justice to a 480hp car...the exhaust note is worse for the 911 turbo

Anyway, they are also going to provide ECU upgrades named 'VX-ROM' in the coming days. That will add more power to the already monstrous Power it has.

Here's the link.

Actually, there are several official tuners. Nissan even gave several of them an early release so products could hit the market ASAP.

I'd imagine so. Mine's racing division helped make the skyline famous.

Here's a link to a guy on a forum who has pictures of 3 tuner iterations...Mines, MCR, and Top Secret.

http://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=31753&st=575

I'll see if I can hunt down the original source of the sneak peak info, but Wiki also has it posted there.

"While it doesn't get rid of the dual exhaust setup that several tuners have voiced complaints over, it may provide a better flow rate over the stock unit."

Why do tuners complain about dual exhaust setup?

They wouldn't complain if the GT-R had a true dual setup.

Yo guys, I know that there were loads of tuner's for the old version and, they will work their magic on the new one too.

But my point is, 'MINE'S' are the first one in the group of tuners to provide upgrades for the new GTR.

I know there are many to come but, they are the FIRST for the new GTR.

2 GT-R's are here in middle TN. The local Nissan engineers get to play with them a little before the release. I haven't seen one yet in town here, though. Red and gray, I'm told.

Mine's and Top Secret were one of the two biggest aftermarket tuners for the Skylines of past in Japan, but Nismo's N1 engine tuned for Group A is what I'm waiting for. Hope the GT-R LM comes out soon.

if you don't mind my asking, what makes the Mines Exhaust so expensive other than the "Mines" brand itself?

i'm sure that's exactly what Mines is waiting for as well. after all, they did have an N1 motor under the hood of their R34 GTR.

It because of a couple of reasons ...

1) They are not produced in high numbers like HKS or GReddy. They are kind of built to order.

2) They are hand made ... look at the pic I posted and you can see it full Ti, and look at the labor in pie cuts (since you cant bend Ti you need to cut it like slices of pie to make the bends)

3) On the Evo it was 80 or 85mm if I recall correctly ... which is one of the largest and most free flowing exhaust out there

4) anything imported from Japan cost extra money ... jsut look at the 3D Design stuff for the E90

hmm...$2500 still seems kinda steep.

not that i thought that you were making the assumption, but just to be clear, my exhaust is not a mass-produced exhaust from GReddy or HKS. it is a built-to-order JIC Titanium cat-back. it is a full titanium system that weighs in at approx. 10lbs (as opposed to some bullshit stainless steel system with a titanium tip).

also, although the long pipe upwind of the canister does not have welded pie cuts, it does have slight bends in it. yet i know for a fact that it is titanium (i can lift it with two fingers) - i suppose they just injected mine into a mold with that shape...i don't know. either way, i can see that you have welds on the canister and the pipe, whereas mine only has welds on the canister. and i'm sure that those pie cuts and welds on the pipe bring up the labor cost significantly.

other than that, my exhaust was also custom made in and imported from Japan (god the wait seemed like forever). i'm just a bit shocked that the manual labor would jack the price up so much. it can't be just that - alot of it must be the "Mines" branding...

i guess that's my only qualm with Mines...most of their stuff seems twice as expensive as everyone else's. yet, as good as they are, i just can't convince myself that their parts are twice as good as everyone else's. i will say though that the exhaust on that Evo is gorgeous!

Honestly please do not take what Im about to say as me being a dick ... but I have been in the industry for some time now. I have several friends that work at several different companies and the JIC exhaust is actually exactly the same as the Magnaflow Ti exhaust ... only difference is the name stamped on it. The exhaust is produced by Magaflow for JIC ...Im not sure if its made in Japan or not ... never really looked into it that far. Reason I know all this is I was going to buy the same exhaust for my Evo. If you dont believe me about the exhaust find someone with the magnaflow and lay both of them side by side and you'll see what Im talking about ... also the reason they where selling at the time for the same price (Magnaflow no longer sells their Ti exhaust for the Evo as they didnt have good luck with selling it as most people found it too loud).
