Stuck with a group of good drivers...
Have you ever been driving down the highway and actually noticed how smoothly traffic flows when you get 'stuck' with a GROUP of good drivers?
ie: - Everyone uses left lane for passing only then gets back over. - Actually try & help each other out instead of constantly defending their "position"? - Flashing head/brake lights to warn other drivers of danger - etc This doesn't happen very often in L.A., but when it does I really take notice and appreciate it. I always try to give a friendly wave to those who are obviously being good drivers. I noticed I see more of this as you get away from the city. Probrably 'cause there are less people in a big hurry, dunno... Anyway I just wanted to give a little positive reinforcement and say thanks to all you good drivers out there!! Thanks!

Yeah, it's very helpful when you do come across such respective drivers. I do recall the days in my Prelude, where indeed other Honda drivers (Accords & Civics) drive alone side/front/rear of me... gotta love it also when there's a chick involved. The most help comes when we work together to get past slow cars on the left lane, and some non-Honda who tries to overpass us ... those were the days.
It's very difficult to get other Bimmers to do the same... I haven't come across any yet . I'll love to do another convoy with the big boys this time.

Yes, it is a rare but much noticed and appreciated situation. Another good example is someone overtaking you in the left lane who falls back a bit to give you room to come out from behind a slower car, just before you get boxed in.
I drive almost 100 miles a day, mostly freeway. During normal commuting hours, most everyone is in the groove and there is a rhythm and flow. When the Griswald's get on the road on weekends, friday evenings, etc. you can really tell the difference. FWIW I try to exhibit the behavior that I like to see in others. No sense being part of the problem...

I can concur... I meant to imply that as well. We need more 'common sense' drivers to know exactly how to read the road, and its drivers. Sadly it's not spreading amongst all drivers on our freeways.... all the lanes are like 'it's mine and mine only...you're not getting past me'... heh, say hello to my little friend folks ...'zzzzzzzzooooooooooommmmmmmmmmm .... 335i coming thru!!!'

Yeah, its very rare but I too enjoy finding a "good" driver to hang with on the road. The other day I was driving on Route 3 coming down from NH into MA and I found an E39 540i going the same speed and for the whole way we just drove together, with him in front, moving to the left to pass then getting back to the right to cruise, showing each other courtesy, no boxing in, etc.

Yes, I notice this when taking long road trips.
People stick in the right lane when cruising, pass people on the left and get right back to the right. Whenever I take a trip in the car, I always tend stay with the same group of people heading in the same direction until they take an exit. I always get warned of speed traps up ahead from oncoming traffic, which is also nice. |

WA drivers are idiots most of the time.. I'm always afraid someones going to come into my lane without signaling, looking, etc etc.. I usually try to stay on the farthest left lane as I can. I always try to give a high beam or honk when my radar goes off

Useless post.
Anyways, yeah I can appreciate those moments, but they're few and far between. Mainly it's a bunch of ego-centric 40 year old males in their mega duty trucks that think they own the road and those mid thirties/early forties women that probably don't have to work and drive their Lexus SUVs and whatnot that are the problem. Pisses me off...as soon as I see aggressive driving ahead that's my key to get around it as quickly as possible. And god forbid if you and the other aggressive driver are the first two out of a pack of car and are doing one of those "slow races" where you each slowly go faster and faster and pay little to no attention to the other, secretly trying to be in the lead. lmao me and my friend always laugh in those situations cuz it's always a Dodge pickup.

Seriously though, if more common courtesy was exhibited on our highways, there would be less road rage and fewer accidents. We must learn to tolerate those that do not have the same driving skills as some of us (have you ever seen LEDZEP lead a pack of cars?), and try to give them a little more lee way. OTOH, those that lack the skills should not attempt to put themselves or others in harms way.

Drive in Australia, specifically Melbourne, to get an idea of what it would be like if 95% of the people were good, friendly, cooperative drivers.

Ever notice the speeding Hyundais/Kias (especially Elantras and Accents)? I think those ad campaigns like "You Win" and whatever really get to them..
