4th car advice

Forum,

I clearly have a disease when it comes to cars and I love to switch very frequently.
Current stable includes '14 M6, '15 M3, '13 X6M, '14 C7 corvette and '10 ZR1.
The wife is demanding we downsize given the waste of money from insurance upkeep etc.

I will be selling both corvettes, and I am considering the GTR, Viper and C7Z06. The X6 is the wife's so staying, and I very recently got the M6 and M3 and still enjoy them both so plan to keep and mod for now.

I've driven the pre-12 GTR and enjoyed it immensely.
The Viper is the most exotic obviously, I love the NA V10, not a huge fan of the looks.

The Z06 is the best looking of the 3 but it may not feel like that much of a change from the stingray and it's a first year model with possible significant issues.

I love this forum for its fantastic advice from true enthusiasts and wanted to see what you guys would recommend.

My personal pick will be the GTR. It will provide you with a very different and unique driving experience. Nissan is offering huge discounts and historically GTR held its value fairly well. The modding potential is huge with strong aftermarket support.

The 2015 is also more refined with some nice small changes. Black headliner is now standard on the Primium trim and the annoying reverse beep is gone. The softer suspension is great for street driving. Plus the new LED headlights.

There is a rumored supercharged V10 going into the Viper. Knowing that, personally I would wait. I also cannot live with the fact that it gets so hot below my torso due to the transmission and side exhaust pipe.

Z06 is supposed to be amazing, but it fall short of expectation in straight line performance. Especially from a roll, where it seems to be out performed by the Viper and Hellcat. As to the amazing handling performance, just remember that the test cars are wearing Cup tires with 80 thread wear rating.

Now, would you mind sharing your experience with the M3 and C7? Manual/DCT/Auto? Z51? How will you compare the two?

Out of those three the viper for sure.. I'm seeing way more C7's on the road than I care for.. GTR would be my top pick if it came with a manual transmission

Thanks for the advice. I am leaning GTR as I agree with the straight line Z06 concerns and I don't track frequently enough for the downforce to really come into play.

The M3 is DCT, the C7 is Z51 M7. They are completely different animals.

Exterior- I prefer te M3. The flared fenders, the wheels, the lines are superb in my opinion. The C7 is a good looking car as well but the narrow body (compared to the Z06) make sit look like something is missing.

Interior- This will surprise some but honestly the BMW only barely edges the corvette. The 3LZ 'Vette has a great, HUD, nice leather, great Navi, rear view cam etc. The M3 interior "feels" better built, less rattle thicker leather but it's subtle imo.

Acceleration-Both "feel" equally fast. Both can spin tires popping into 3rd. From a feel standpoint, very hard to tell which is quicker.

Sound- Corvette is MUCH better. The V8 in Sport mode sounds absolutely phenomenal. It's one of the great strengths of this car.

Handling- Again, the corvette gives much more feedback, feels more nimble overall. M3 handling is great as well but I do prefer the C7's steering feel.

Overall- the C7 is a much more focused sports car. It's more fun than the M3 but it's also much less liveable daily. I drove the C7 daily for 2 months, hated it. As has been said for decades about this car, the M3 is a near-perfect compromise of luxury, performance, looks.

If I could only have one car for both the wife and myself it would be the M3.

I just built my GTR with shep trans flex fuel tons of other stuff sorry but there really isn't anything like it lmao

My advice base on your list
Just wanna build and destroy everything GET GTR
Wanna be a little different and a little more unique GET VIPER

Thanks guys. I'll take a pic of them all side by side when I get a chance and post it.

This may not make a lot of sense to most but the 991 is more money than I'm willing to put into a single car... To be fair I've never driven any 911 but I don't see the "value" in it. Call me crazy haha....

Drive one and you'll not only see where the value is but you'll never want to drive anything else. It truly is about as perfect a car in every aspect you'll ever be in. I got to do some behind the scenes stuff and it wasn't surprising but Porsche more than any other car maker sandbags and holds back in what they put into their cars. They are already so much better than everything else, just imagine if they pulled out all the stops.

You have lots of power and Lux, why not go for something different?

i8 (year long wait I know) or i3 or Tesla?

Or something new, like the AMG GT (as others have suggested).

Or an R8.

Take a look at the Cayman GTS. That one is worth the money in my opinion (biased because I own one...)

I usually keep stock (other than minor cosmetic stuff) although depends on the car. If I got the GTR I'm sure I'd mod. The Viper, less likely....

Off of your list I would say Z06.

I tried on a Viper, I did not fit and could not see out of the silly thing.
I just can't make myself like the GTR.

I would look hard at a 991 GT3, or wait for the Cayman GT4 (or whatever its going to be called).

Or even get on the GT350 or GT350R list
