Traded M235i for Porsche Cayman S

After gather up a bit of money for my next car over past year since I started my BMW M235i lease I pulled the trigger this weekend on a previously owned 2014 Porsche Cayman S. The Cayman has been a fantasy car of mine for many years but never the means to purchase one. Tried buying a 2006 Cayman S about 4 years ago but couldn't get the right color/options I was looking for. Found a Porsche dealership in Ann Arbor, MI that a couple Cayman's and two S versions. Drove 10 hours on a Friday evening through Saturday morning to see the gray colored one, but after 19K+ hard Michigan road miles the suspension was pretty worn out. The second was a PDK yellow one which I initially didn't consider, but when the gray was a bust I took the yellow out for a test ride. Feel in love during the test ride!

It has Porsche PASM, Torque Vectoring, Sport Chrono, CDR, Sport exhaust, PDK, Sport Design steering wheel, partial leather interior with 14-way sport seats that are heated/vented, dual climate control, and best feature of all radar cruise control. My 10 hour ride home later in the day was a blast learning my new ride. Getting the inside detailed on Thursday and post of some interior shots afterwards.

No need to PM, I was able to secure the deal for just over $68K. My M235i was good for $40K trade so I'm happy. The Porsche is certified for 6 yr, 100K miles warranty. At delivery the car had 9200 miles; almost 10K now

Note, you have to opt for the Sport exhaust. The Sport Plus setting gives the car the same off throttle overrun sound as the F-Type (which IMO is the best).

Nice car, congrats on getting your dream car. I don't know how you feel about the wheels however, I'd change those immediately if it were my car.

Hey, it was only 70% more, so better yet.

By the way OP, I really like the yellow. Usually not a big fan, but on your car it looks great. Don't change a thing.

Congratulations !!!

The car is a blast and a joy to drive, I do own a Cayman GTS, and I love it, that being said, I could not turn in my 1M, so now I have the best of both car worlds

Thanks everyone, the smile is still on my face for sure. Drove into DC today for work and the Adaptive Cruise Control made rush hour, stop/go driving a lot less stressful. It will come to a complete stop on it's own and resume when traffic moves.

Agree the wheels are not the best, but they are 19" wheels with 40 profile tires that make putting on Winter tires much less expensive to do. Will save some coins up this year and get the 20" Carrera S wheels and Pilot Super Sport tires next Spring.

Plasti-Dip the rear emblems yesterday.

I've never had a Cayman or Boxster but only heard good things...

Let me know the major upgrades you are enjoying from the M235i?

(besides the handling, exhaust and of good looks)

Congrats Delnari sad to see you go, you've done so much for the M235 community and as well in general to the BMW.

You mentioned lease M235 or was that a typo? Then you mentioned M235i was good for $40k trade-in ? lol I'm confused

the Porsche badge looks good. but the cayman S badge (in black or silver) looks like an afterthought...i'd remove it.

I wouldn't go larger with the wheels, no way. Why harm the ride? Leave it be man.

I was carrying a 24 month lease on the M235i through BMW. Just like a loan you have a payoff price after each lease payment. I was able to get out the BMW for the payoff amount from the dealer. Now I'm financing the entire 68K purchase price as my down payment went to cover the taxes, tags, etc. Interest rate was just above new car rates so I'm shooting to have it paid off in about 38 months.

I'm going to leave the "Cayman S" badge. It looks much better blacked out, and I have never kept a car more than 2 years so leaving as stock for the next buyer or trade in is better on then off.

Took my car nut friend out tonight for a joy ride around the neighborhood and he had a giant smile on his face the whole time. He sold his 2012 Maserati Quattroporte last year and said this car is way more fun! Went through a couple under-passes in low gear with wide open throttle for sound joy. What a great night in the new car.

Congrats!! Love the color and the car. I will be doing the same in the next 2-3 years. What options did your M235i have? I was trying to trade mine in and got low-balled by dealer. lol. My original MSRP was something like $48.5K.
