Meet the 2016 Camaro, same as the 2015 Camaro

I'm disappointed to say the least. Was looking for something to replace my TT and had Mustangs in the past so I was hoping to try out a Camaro this time around.

Nice find!... crappy GM aesthetic results yet again. Let's wait until 2020 for the Camaro to perhaps be in the game. Until then, most will pass.

reserving judgement for two reasons

1) the true reveal is tomorrow
2) the 5th gen SS is nothing special. it is the z line (zl1, z/28) that looks good. I am def interested in seeing the performance models that gm will release. even a 1le looks ages better than a regulaR SS

How is this any different than an E90 and a F30? Or a VW New Beetle and a (new) Beetle. Or wow, a 911? LOL

Or any car, really.

Should be an excellent car to drive. Alpha chassis (ATS/CTS) plus a Corvette LT1 for $35,000.

Agreed. Alpha chassis is pretty good based on the ATS's I've driven.

SS gets LT1 with 455hp and 455tq. Performance and handling to equal outgoing 1LE.

You have to be into that retro styling to like the Mustang or Camaro. Not a huge fan myself either. But I respect the SS performance for $35k. Fantastic value.

Why did you own a Camaro if you think it looked like trash?

I got one in 2009 the first year the 5th gen was out. It was a whole new design, and it looked badass. but overtime i kind of grew out of it. I put new rims on it, lowered it, tinted the windows etc... I put a lot of work into it.

When i got my M3. I realized how bad the camaro was. My M3 ZCP sat a lot better, came with beautiful factory rims, better styling lines, i could actually see out of the car etc...

everytime i see a mustang or camaro they just look cheap to my eyes. GM did a refresh on them, and it actually made the car look worse . plan jane rims, awful tail lights, awful rear bumpers etc...

That grill to air dam ratio lol. The grill just keeps getting smaller, sooner or later it wont have any headlights

I also found some interesting information on Camaro6 - The new car is 30mm lower, 20mm narrower and 58mm shorter than the current Camaro. So I calculated the dimensions of the car:

Length: 188"
Width: 74.8"
Height: 53"

It's noticeably smaller than the new Mustang by every dimension which means the Camaro is now the smallest car out of the 3 "muscle" cars.

Agreed, and with more power and that MSRC, the SS version is going to be a winner.

I think chevrolet killed it with the interior. It looks great! Driver oriented as well. Exterior, the styling is exactly what GM said it was going to be 6 months ago... evolutionary as opposed to revolutionary.

Very excited not only for the performances reviews but for the high-perf Z model. Whether it be a ZL1 or Z/28... its going to be at least 600 hp in the smallest package around (as you noted).

This. I appreciate the performance aspect of these cars (Camaro and Mustang) but the retro or American design(s) in general don't do it for me.

Looks like a Lexus inspired front end with a Corvette inspired interior. Also looks like a Mustang from the side at a distance.

Inside is different but the outside....meh.

SS should handle way better than outgoing 1LE. If the new Mustang vastly out handles the Boss 302, then new Camaro should do the same to the 1LE. I wonder if they'll still offer the 1LE......but I sure would like to know the weight of the car.

Agreed 100% .... but I thought they would address the major problems with the carmaro- not being able to see out of it, and bringing the weight down. The ATS is like 3400 lbs, I don't know why the camaro is so much more rotund.

BUT you gotta love the short front overhang, long hood, and short trunk..... all qualities that we like for some reason.... The distance from the front to the front wheel well is almost exactly the same as an e46 coupe!

When I was in college, I had a 1984 z28 (the 'good' 5.0, the 190hp HO motor/5 speed stick with 3.73 factory limited slip! AWESOME SHAPE, RARE CAR) and then a 1993 Firebird Formula, hard top, 6 speed/LT1- which was like a really bad ass car for its time. I auto crossed that car a ton, and got involved with the bmw cca for that reason... the rest they say...

I really wanted to like the new car, but It makes me sad. If I get a GM car again (I kind of should, I am a sales manager at a chevy store) It will be a c5 Z06 for a track car.

They probably used less light weight materials in the Camaro to keep the costs down unless you don't care if the 2.0T Camaro cost the same as the ATS. Still it's going to be in the range of 200-300 lb. lighter than the 5th gen.

The visibility issue didn't effect the 5th gen sales until the new Mustang, as the Camaro was the best seller in the segment since the 5th gens release. People will make that sacrifice for styling especially for this type of car. Just look at GM's Kappa twins( Solstice/Sky), they didn't have a trunk even with the top up( forget about storing anything with the top down) and yet they couldn't make them fast enough.

What? How did the Mustang affect the outward visibility of the camaro? I drove one to Harrisburg and back (rental car) with my dad, that was the first thing I noticed when I got behind the wheel. I have to think that has an effect on volume sales. People like getting in a car and feeling comfortable, and not being able to see out real well makes most people uncomfortable.

The more I look at the new one, the more I like it, I just wish there was a little less metal and a little more glass.

i have a strong feeling that the performance editions that will be released in subsequent years are going to be what makes this car a winner. It has all of the performance potential and the interior styling but like many say, the exterior is mehh..

Then again a 2010 camaro exterior is mehh but the 1LE, ZL1 and Z/28 look pretty bad ass IMO.
