Should be in general OT, but yeah, I've had vertigo before. The worst was when I climbed to the top of the St.Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The hallway inside the walls of the dome was tilted and it really fucked with my head and balance.
Have you gone to an ENT specialist? If it's constant, you might have inner ear issues. My spells are all anxiety-related.

Strange place for this but I'll bite.
A couple of months ago I rolled over in bed and it literally woke me up. Sat up and thought I was dying or something. My eyes were darting back and forth while the dark room spun. Scared the bajeebas out of me. Happened again a few nights later. Went to my ENT...nothing. Some sort of crystals fall into a little pool of fluid that is like our balance puddle is what I read. Hasn't come back but I feel it will. |

I experienced a different form of vertigo once when Scuba diving in a murky lake. I was ascending from 110ft with no flash light (flooded thanks to a pinched o-ring) and after kicking for what seemed like an eternity with no sign of surface light I began to question whether I was even traveling in a upward direction (it was complete darkness so I literally had no visual references).
Being that I didn't have any visual, I can't say that I was dizzy but the sensation of having absolutely no point of reference really fucks with your mind....for a split second I even questioned if my eyes were open or closed. Fortunately I remembered my dive training that instructs you to follow your bubbles with your hand. following my bubbles, I quickly realized that in my brief moment of panic and confusion I began swimming back down. Needless to say once I broke the surface I kind of just floated there reflecting on what I had just experienced...To this day the memory raises my heart rate. It was also that day that I realized how feeble the human mind can be when it is stripped of all but one sense. -Scott

Free diving, I perforated my ear drum once I hit my depth. One of the scariest moments I have ever had. Making it back to the boat and up the ladder was definitely a frightening experience.

I'm a PT here in MA, I actually saw one earlier for vertigo-like symptoms. Have you ever heard of Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo? BPPV. Simply put, with any positional changes (head most of the time) the balance centre of your body goes out of whack, thus causing dizziness/nausea. And yes, those crystals, they are real.
Did you ever have an ear infection before? Maybe a fall with loss of consciousness? Get checked as those may play a part. The inner ear is our balance centre, so all balance of the body is controlled there (somewhat). If it's been infected or anything like that, vertigo-like Sx may be felt. Don't take my word for it but get checked, if it needs be, referred to a Neurologist for further testing. Look up Brandt-Daroff exercises for vertigo, it might help. But NEVER beats seeing a pro, rather than self-treating. Message if you have any questions. |

I suffer from menieres as well. I have found limiting my sodium intake and exercise to lessen the frequency of occurrences.
