Videos like this, along with nicknames like Green Hell and the Widowmaker made it awfully hard for me to convince my wife to let me drive it during our trip to Germany. Sadly for me, it was closed due to ice during our visit.

You know actually the most spectacular looking crashes tend to be the most survivable, as the forward motion energy slowly dissipates with each car twirl or spin. It becomes kind of like a wild amusement park ride.
The deadly crashes tend to be when when all forward momentum is stopped suddenly, ala Dale Earnhardt. If this guy hit the wall head on stopping the car instantly, it very well might be a different result. P.S. - 23 years ago, I survived a high-speed, highway triple flipping roll-over when I feel asleep at the wheel and drifted off the road. So long as nothing stops you suddenly at high speed, which turns your internal organs into jelly, it's just a wild looking crash that slowly gets rid of the car's forward energy. |

Modern chassis construction and roll cage go a LONG way. Luck too!
