it would really depend if he has manual or you have auto, or
you have auto and he has manual or if both have manual and if you knows how to execute your torque properly and quickly or if he knows how to execute his torque properly and quickly and whos lucky that day!

while I definatly agree that the BMW is not a drag car by any means I think you guys are underestimating the 3. When it comes to a drag race all the BMW needs to win is space in most cases. The gears are extremly long meaning that you have to shift much less often saving precious time. The car might feel a little bit slugish but believe me by the time you are at 80mph - 150mph the japanese cars just cant keep up. Its an endurance race, all of the japanese cars that I have come across beat me to sixty no problem and then as we come up on 100mph there power is gone and there is acceleration turns to shit and the bmw just glides out ahead effortlessly. Its a thing of beauty when a car with less power, less displacement and more weight spanks another car.

I bought my Accord V6 1 month before I got my 325i. I believe it cannot match the power of the EX v6 vtec. They both have pros and cons, but my 325 is just really freaking fun to drive. Its close though, that i wouldnt trade my accord for a bimmer. i believe for a very long drive, my accord is still much comfortable since its roomier.
