At noon today, at 12:08 : almost to the day, eight years after opening of the BMW Welt, we have welcomed in the #BMWWelt the 20 millionth visitor.

Dieter Reiter, Mayor of Munich, and Helmut Käs, head of the BMW Welt, welcomed the visibly surprised anniversary guests, the family of four from Aachen, Germany. Per video message spoke visitors from around the world from their congratulations. The reigning DTM Champion Marco Wittmann presented on behalf of the BMW Welt, the guest of honor at a special gift - they are allowed one year of driving the new BMW X1.

"The BMW Welt is the showcase of the BMW Group. All the more we are pleased to welcome the 20 millionth visitor after only eight years. The great popularity of our guests from home and abroad underlines the attractiveness of the BMW Group and all of its brands, "Helmut Käs said. Mayor Dieter Reiter said: "The BMW Welt has become in a few years become a landmark of Munich. It stands for the appeal, appeal and modernity of the city and contributes to the success of Munich in as a tourist destination. "Our guests of honor of this day, Christoph Wald, his wife Stefanie and their two children Alina and Fabian We hope you enjoy the new BMW X1 ".

it always reminds me of an audi S-line event i went to, i was treated like a peasant begging for a ride...then i went to bmw event and felt like these people actually wanted me there and cared whether i liked the cars or not...guess what i ended up driving for past 10 years and counting

I was expecting/hoping BMW to give the X1 for free completely. But hey! I surely would not be complaining if BMW lends me a car for 1 year for simply visiting.

I thought that was odd/cheap as well. Maybe it is some tax loop hole in Germany though. Could save the winner coming up with several thousand Euros or it could just be BMW trying to get some press and save a few thousand Euros.
