Replacement key
Hey I just got an e38 from 1998. What's the best way to get a replacement key for it? And how much would it cost?

Dealer. Its not as expensive as a new remote key fob for late model BMW's (~$400 for one key + coding). I think for an e38 your looking at under ~$150 Bring a copy of your title or registration to your dealer. They have to order a key from BMW AG.

You could buy a blank key and a BMW key programmer (AK-90), but by the time you're done you're at nearly $100. Personally I'd just go to the dealer unless you think you'll use the key programmer more than once.
