I'm not keen on the front end, or especially the idea of a car that more or less is just comprised of detuned components from cars further up the lineup. Or even the idea that it is a 'sports car' when it is almost as fast as the old F1, and costs nearly 200K.
But I do like it. I kinda can't help it. Last edited by FriskyDingo; 01-12-2016 at 10:37 AM.. |

Only thing suspect is mclaren and lambo refused to enter a car in driver of the year competition when found out 488 was gonna be present. Then it got beat, sort of by the gt350R. My pick would be acr in that group then 488 if money wasn't an issue.

Well, if you win the lottery get both. You'll just have to wait on the 488 until they're in the market. Ferrari pulled them and the California because of fuel line issues. The 488 is supposed to be good but it isn't the best looking thing. I'm just not an F or L kind of guy.

I wouldn't say that... I will note they did say its still a prototype and still being finished according to the review. But if that is stock and base performance. Winning, However... |

I just absolutely LOVE what the Brand has done and is doing!
They are a "force to be taken seriously", they have a incredible lineup of vehicles at varying price points. They all retain those lovely and exotic wing doors. They just look ferocious! At this price point >$200k... It wins hands down for my garage choice in overall package, performance and exotic good looks.

I remember the first 12c I encountered and how tiny they are.

Yeah, I live right by there. I've only seen a couple 12Cs, and 1 650s. I see 1-2 Lamborghinis (black Huracan looks pretty intimidating coming at you) every week when I leave in the morning. Definitely was most impressed with the 570s though, which is weird because I thought it looked just okay in the pictures.

mclaren depreciates the most compared to F-cars, Lambos, and Porsches.
good new for us less rich peeps that may be able to score one on the used market in an year or 2.

I would pick the 570S over anything else this side of the P1 in their lineup.
I thought it too looked kinda 'off' from the press pictures, but in all of the review videos it looks and sounds simply fantastic. Plus, as evo and others have started to point out, the 'Big Boy' variants of some of these supercars are just so extreme that you'll never get to push them sans a track AND being a great driver. The 570S and even Hurucan are 'reigned in' enough to push them on roads and them not being as 'mental'. I've always been a huge McLaren fan going back to the F1 (who isn't!?) and love the BMW-Macca connection from the Paul Rosche engine. If I had the fundage I would certainly be picking something from their lineup compared to its rivals. I love how far they have come since 2011 and the MP4-12C. I don't at all mind the numerous variants either, and at least they're building their own engines compared to Zonda, Koegniggsegg (sp, of course) and Hennessey, etc.

Maybe so, but it matched the GT3 lap time at Big Willow

The scarcity of dealers for Lambo/McLaren, even Ferrari worries me. The closest McLaren dealer to here is a couple of hours away and they wouldn't even cover towing for a P1 owner that was broken down. That's not the kind of ownership experience I want. |
