Hi all, looking to shop for a new insurance plan and I was wondering if any of you could provide your experience with any of the following:

1. Progressive - Lowest rate, but at what price?
2. Geico - Middle of the run price
3. eSurance - Slightly higher than Geico
4. State Farm - Wayyy more expensive than the rest.

My biggest worries are as follows:

1. Use of oem or aftermarket parts - how can I ensure my policy covers OEM
2. Ease/Speed of reimbursement
3. Use of preferred collision center
4. Any other things to consider?

Price comparison were based on the following coverage for the most part, would appreciate feedback on this as well:

liberty mutual does OEM, but it's a little more $$. I'm paying $3k a year for 2 cars ('12 335i and '10 RDX).

Similar situation here. We carry all the "stuff" with a $1M liability. Just got my State Farm bill - $330 for six months. I'm not going to dig through paperwork right now but I believe *almost positive) we have a $1,000 deductible.

Progressive is fine, you planning on getting in an accident? If so you have bigger problems. As far as use of OEM parts, you're 320i is not a collectors car, if you need a new fender, due to an accident, majority of people won't be swaying their decision on the part being OEM Or not, moreso whether the repair was done correctly.

Been with AAA forever. They have taken care of me time and time again it's almost unreal. They really shined with what they gave me my e36 when it was considered a loss. Expensive, but it meets all your requirements.

QRP is often used to fix a car like yours when in a claim. You aren't getting brand new oem parts but the parts are oem they just come off another car, that car will usually be the same year as your car or newer. So they are oem parts just not brand new. I'm talking doors bumper ect, not anything mechanical.

Insurance isn't the product to cut pennies on, you get what you pay for.

Appreciate all the responses. Hopefully, I will never need to file a claim but I know that I want to have all my ducks in a row for when that **** moment occurs. Finally putting some moving violations 5+ years behind me, so I figure the time is ripe to shop and shop smartly.

Would it be safe to assume quality of the repair is more important than using OEM parts for replacement? I guess I can start with a list of "in-network" repair shops for each carrier in my area and see who has the best reviews?

Any carriers that work with BMW or Mercedes certified collision centers that you guys know of off hand?

Just paid my semi-annual premium to State Farm...$685.22 for a 2015 M6.

Liability - Bodily Injury / Property Damage
$250,000 each person / $500,000 each accident
$100,000 each accident

Uninsured Motor Vehicle - Bodily Injury
$100,000 each person / $300,000 each accident

Uninsured Motor Vehicle - $500 each accident

Comprehensive $100

Collision $500

I've filed claims with SF and the quality and speed have been outstanding.

State Farm has tons of preferred shops. If you use one of them they garuantee the repairs like bodywork, paint, all that good stuff for as long as you own the car. Always go to preferred shops as they have contracts w the insurer and if they don't maintain standards they are removed from the program(losing lots of business) so they usually do good work backed with a warranty.

Pulled a few more quotes and Progressive is still the lowest by about $50 per month... If no one has anything bad to say about them I'm considering pulling the trigger.

They apparently run their own collision centers, but I would be more interested in hearing about an experience with Progressive while using your preferred body shop.

As someone who works in the insurance industry the best advice would be find a local agent in your area who represents multiple insurance companies. This grantees more choices on rates and less shopping around.

Also with StateFarm and have been for at least 15 years. Had one claim about 5 years ago and was happy with how it was handled. $1000 deductible to reduce cost. Posting what people pay is a waste of time as there are huge number of variables that go into the rate, most of which won't match the person that is asking.

Myself and also the dealership is with Farmers.

you get what you pay for, be careful of the cheaper insurance companies, I've been burned personally and seen the same with others in the past. I learned my lesson.

Small sampling, but seems like State Farm is the most popular choice here.

We have Liberty Mutual as they guarantee OEM for both the M4 and my wife's Cooper S.

I've only had my US license for around 6 months (from the UK originally) and my wife is 26. Neither of us have ever had any claims or tickets.

We pay $2,743/year (changing from the 328i to the M4 added $470/year) with a $250 deductible. Breaks down as $1224 for the Mini and $1466 for the M4.

We have 250k/500k Bodily Injury, 500k Property, 250k/500k/100k Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist.

We had State Farm before and they were around $50/month more expensive (for the 328i - no idea how much it would have been with the M4), although by all accounts they are the absolute best in the event you have to make a claim.
