Help with a lease.. Non-BMW

Hi,
I am thinking of leasing a truck prefer a F150 but open to others. I have never leased a car/truck before so before I get taken at the dealer I wanted to see if some people here could help me get some things in order before I get mobbed at the dealer.

I know many members here knew leasing very well and could use some help. I really have no clue whats a good deal or not here.

If anyone could help me review some of the current mfg offerings and give me some feedback that would be great. Thanks in advance for reading.

Don't do a cap cost reduction ever, use multiple security deposits if you want to lower your payment. If you drive a lot leasing isn't for you. Also no idea how trucks hold value but if the residual is crap it won't lease well, maybe better buying. As an example way back when my $50k Touareg leased better than a $35k Jeep.

Thanks for the info I'll look further into this. What constitutes a crap residual? Any range?

My only car now is my m3 and I average 800mi a month since ownership. I expect to only drive the truck 500mi or so a month. Easily under the 10k starting mileage.

Maybe it's better to buy just not totally sure yet.

i would argue the opposite.

If you drive very little you get burnt badly by leasing, you could go out and buy a one year old vehicle and drive it for three years and sell it for not a great loss in depreciation. If you're leasing, you've spend god knows how much over three years and you own nothing.

Going way over your miles or way under, neither is good if you want to turn the car in at lease end and be done with it.

I know literally nothing about truck market so couldn't give you a good opinion. Car, for instance, if you 1. Want to lease and 2. Don't mind something with a few miles already on it the exec demos BMW offers are usually insanely good deals. Not looking to get into the whole leasing is bad argument with anyone - that's been beaten to death. But if you want to lease for instance my GF drives a $50k 3 series diesel. Exec demo had 8k on it so they already ate the first year of depreciation. Still warranty and everything. $350 a month all-in for 12k miles.

Honestly who is going over? 25,000KM a year is more than most people will ever do and it is not a lot more to tick that box vs 20,000.

I cannot make leasing work unless I drive at least 20,000KM a year, anything less and it just does not make a lick of sense up here anyway, i know in the states you get some crazy ass deals.

A reasonably loaded X1 is well over $700 month here, a stripper well into the $500's.

I'm not going to argue driving habits with you - I know a lot of people who drive 20k miles per year. Your personal habits of being way under that are fine, but before OP specified he wasn't driving much it was a valid concern.

My cousin is on his second consecutive F150 lease. He is one year into his 2015 platinum. He is paying $623 monthly with only $1800 out of pocket(covers TTL and fees). It stickered at $58,980 and he got it for $54,870. A great discount at the time, but the truck was new to the market and I'm sure better discounts can be had now. I dont remember the money factor or the residual. Which F150 were you interested in specifically? Hers an example:
March 2016 lease for a 2016 Ford F150 XLT Super crew 4X4 is 5.50% APR and 67% residual for 24months and 15k miles/year. Add 3% to residual for 10k miles.
5.50% APR and 62% residual for 36 months 15K/yr. Add 3% for 10k miles.

I'm not sure of the current deals or incentives as they are regional. I'm sure you can get a great discount on a new F150.

Shit 62% for 3 years at 15k is waaaaaay better than I was thinking. Shows what I know about trucks.

I have no idea how well trucks lease. All I know is I always see enormous discounts in paper everyday, on all the brands.

Kinda feeling the new refreshed 2016 Silverado with the midnight package. Never really liked the chromed out truck look.

Going Ford, it would be hard not to just get a Raptor.

Thanks for the help guys. While a raptor would be great it's not in the price range I want to be. After looking over the deals and talking to some dealers it may be better for me to buy. I am finding some great deals so I guess that's the plan.

Thanks again for the input.
