Some of the M2 bits look like with some work could be universal

I can now understand the frustration that the early F8x owners went through when their vehicles first arrived.

Even though some bits of the M Performance line can be added on to the vehicle at port (Black kidneys, wheel locks, door projectors) MPE and the Coilovers can not be installed yet. Therefore not residualized in the long term of the vehicle.

As much as I would have loved to get the MPE and coilovers I think I will explore other options.

Just a bit frustrating with all this hype surrounding the M performance parts.

id prefer to not have these labeled "m performance" all over the place. Not everyone needs to call attention to themselves and peacock around.

Not a bad production.

But those winglets on the rear of the side skirts couldn't be any more stupid though if BMW tried.

Then why bother with any M Performance add-ons in the first place?

I think it's funny that some people say they are "customizing" their car by adding mass-produced pieces that are exactly alike.
It's just accessorizing. Not customizing.

I think one of the many reasons for m performance parts is the perceived quality control and, for example with the e90/92/93 exhaust - it's a great product that has a good sound.

Mass produced parts can peacock as well, I just prefer an option to not.

Yup. At MB and Audi you can get black trim packages and sport exhaust upgrades from square one at the factory. I think BMW will eventually have these parts integrated into the online configurator, some parts already are for the 3/4 series.

MPE is a port-installed option AFAIK. My friend just got his MPE installed at port for his M4 last month.

Aftermarket burns a hole in your pocket- but it's awesome to customize your own M car. Personally I love it that we have personal choice!

.... Let's face it - are any of these items going to make your Driving experience any better ... Or are they 100% form over function

Maybe the brakes but that's it.
I wish they'd just label it M Sport as its on the same category.
M Performance is meant to mean enhanced performance not just glue on tat.

I know that it's port installed.

What I am saying is it sucks that I can't get MPE or the coilovers installed at the port for the M2.

When the F8x debuted the first batch of owners experienced the same issue with not being able to have items port installed.
