The "dangers" of manual transmissions

I am currently taking an online defensive driving course to better myself as a person (reducing my insurance premiums by 10% is an added bonus) and I came across this slide and thought I would share it with all my fellow enthusiasts/lunatics.

I personally disagree and find myself much more connected with the car. Thoughts? Bare with me, im killing time until my YMB F80 arrives in a few weeks.

Sounds like a quote from a stupid ass insurance company looking for reasons to blame bad drivers for dumb shit!

Right.

Automatic is so much safer since you can pass people without letting go of your hamburger!

I can't say I disagree with what is written on the slide per se.

However, how much risk it actually represents is debatable and probably very driver dependent.

This is only an issue when a person is learning how drive a car with a stick. So about first couple of days. Otherwise, that text is a load of prime nonsense

sneezing also temporarily blinds you for more than a second. not worried about it. I find that manuals tend to keep you engaged and more focused on the road.

Manual transmission is also more harmful to your social life, as it is more difficult to Tinder while driving.

Whoever wrote this was given a contract for an online course and was desperate for content, so started making stuff up. I'm willing to bet there is 0 statistical evidence to support this claim and it is purely conjecture.

They lose credibility when they write stupid things like this...

I think the opposite is true, a gear grind happens when the driver is zooning out and the noise will wake him up and pay attention again

A missed MT downshift (i.e. 5th to 2nd instead of 5th to 4th can cause the car to violently slow down and spin out (Trailing Clutch Oversteer) but I would not take that to mean that MTs are inherently more dangerous than ATs.

There are a lot of stupid moves than can cause a loss of control of a car regardless of what transmission it has.

the scariest part of driving manual, is realizing that you almost took the DCT.
