Probably the coolest police officer
I'm making my way down crown valley today as I spot a police officer in a Dodge Charger. I was doing the speed limit, about 50-55, as we both approached a red light. When the light turned green, the officer accelerated hard. I proceeded to follow him at a much slower pace, so as to avoid getting pulled over. He slowed down until he was at my tail and then (here comes to cool part) he again accelerated at what seemed like full throttle and was laughing as he took off.
We came to another red light together with only 3 cars behind us. The light turned green and the officer took off hard for a few feet and then let off. I was definitely not about to test his will by mimicking his behavior. . . at first As I caught up to him he again accelerated and slowed down. Confused as to what was going on, I looked over at him only to see him give me a thumbs up, smile, and accelerate hard and let off the gas again I still wasn't confident enough that he would be ok with me opening up the throttle on those long straight aways that we were alone on. Then the last straw. . . he kept taping the throttle and continuing to laugh and smile. So, I said wth. . . so far he's been the most laid back and fun officer on the face of the planet. So I did it. Cruising at about 50mph I went WOT and took off on him like he was going backward haha (keep in mind it was either a base charger or at most an R/T. . .nothing like an SRT8. So the "race" was pointless, but the show of power on my part was probably all he wanted for a quick second). I stoped as soon as I hit about 90-100. He caught back up, smiled but shook his head and said "no more." I obeyed, smiled back, gave him a thumbs up and went on my way... laughing hard at what had just happened and still in disbelief. Maybe he had just put in his 2 weeks notice, or maybe he just got promoted. But whatever the case, he was by far, the coolest police officer I've yet to hear about.

definitely a cool guy...
i had a officer who let me off with a verbal warning on 1. rolling through a stop sign 2. squealing tires 3. going above 80 on 55 ... all that at once. It was about 1 in the morning and he was in a unmarked expedition. Some of them dudes just take their job too seriously. but it's always nice to see ones giving people a break. |

hahah nice...
a good buddy of mine just joined the State Troopers in Chicago and I met up with him at 1am one night this past winter while he was on duty on the toll road at one of the oasis's. He got in his car, and said... try to keep up, then threw on his lights and took off. I was surprised at how quick those V8's are from 50-100mph in the squad cars but I kept up pretty well. We hit about 115 for like a mile or so then he slowed back down to about 75, rang my cell phone and said he just got a call for someone who needed help on the shoulder a few miles up so he had to go. It was still fun though, maybe next time we'll get to go longer. |

I've met a lot of cool cops and douche cops in my time. The beauty of working with them and also getting pulled over on more than wanted occasions.

I'll have to wait till retirement to go into any good stories from work. I will say that being a cop is more "Super Troopers" than "Cops". Sounds like you ran into a good guy. We need more like him. Serioulsy, they are more fun to work with.
And if the M3 owner I met the other day is on this board now (url was provided), I went and sat in your "old" 08 335i on Saturday. If I get the okay from Glacked-Actual, I may just buy it. She wants a 328 4dr first then let me get my fun, two door car... we'll see. Partner and I are heading back tomorrow to look at it. |
