do you find theme parks to be outrageously priced?
I remember concerts being free and at worst, $23. I think I paid like $125 to see U2 8 years ago? That was just to say I did it, not impressed in any way.
Disney may be king @ $170 per day, but even lesser ones I think are pricey. So, my wife was meeting our friends today and it would been $291 for 5 people. We decided to buy season passes for 2017, so it will cost them only $50 as our guests. Here comes the point--did you really save $241, or should the price have been $50 all along? AAA has a savings of $1.50 per ticket (I'm a s***** had AAA Plus for 3 years, never used it, that's like $300) |

Disney put a hole in my wallet, I think all the money fell out on the tea cup ride.

Disney is ridiculous. We were out in Anaheim at a conference for Wifey a couple of years ago. Our hotel overlooked Disney. While she was at the conference for two days, I walked around the parks taking pics. I was shocked at the expense, but I had nothing else to do. They should have the option to buy "walk-around" tickets with bright orange tags or something so you can just walk around inside and not go on any rides or into anything they normally charge for. Epcot in Orlando would be good for that. Great place to grab some pics. I'm also a longtime AAA member, although I don't know why. I've only been towed once in decades and that still cost me a fortune because the nearest BMW dealer was 15 miles away and my tow package only covers something like 5 miles. I called them a few months ago when I needed a jump because my battery had died and they said it would be 45 minutes to get a tow truck out to me even though it was coming from the same town I was in. I ended up calling a local garage guy who was out in 5 minutes. AAA really is a waste of money.

All entertainment is expensive and out of control IMO so I'm looking for better value in smaller parks. The smaller, local amusement parks are like $30 for a day pass and $125 for a season pass. The bigger ones like Disney and 6 Flags are "once per summer" type of adventure if that.
Let's not even talk sporting events...Took my kids to a NY Mets game, even with free tickets from a buddy (face value of seats = $125 per!) the food itself put a dent in my wallet. Water bottle = $5! Beer = $9! Cotton candy . . . 9 innings later, my wallet was $130 bucks lighter. |

Nearly every hotel/motel we stay at gives us a 10% triple A discount. Have never needed to use them for anything but the money we save on rooms more than pays for it.

Yeah it's ridiculous. I can't imagine the small fortune people pay that are visiting from other countries, to go to Disney parks in Orlando. F*** that shit.

What would make this awesome would be if Neil Degrasse Tyson would roofie a professional barista and kidnap her in his G wagon (with dirty seats) and then slather her (or him) with an $8 bar of Dr Zoggs. Then, the OT singularity will have happened.

Micky and Minnie are at marriage counseling. The counselor says to Micky, "So, you say you have concerns about Minnie's mental health." He replies, "No, I said she is fucking Goofy."

A decent fishing trip is $125 BEFORE the galley tab. If I take the 16yo boy with me, I need a loan for that galley tab!

Just being curmudgeonly. I find that hyper-commercialization to be a little soul-crushing. Maybe a little hyperbole on my part.
Maybe NOT!

We have season passes for Busch Gardens and SeaWorld that includes free parking, no blackout dates and discounts on food and other purchases. Cost is $76 a month for four tickets and with only a lousy $80 down. That is a great deal IMHO as we plan on going at least once a month, heck we went to both parks twice in July.
Disney and Universal, on the other hand, have out-priced many people. Even with FL discounts, it's crazy. Plus, getting speedpass/fastpass/expresspass, whatever pass to get to the front of the lines costs as much as the park entry fee itself, sometimes even more . Next year we'll go to Disney and Universal, however, no season passes as they want at least $500 down and even Disney would charge the first month payment the same day so it's basically $600 down up front. Sporting events, I've given up going to those. Better to sit at home on my cold hearted ass holding a iced cold Corona bottle from a 18 pack for $19 at the local Walmart compared to paying overpriced parking fee's, $15 beer's and $25 double cheeseburger with crinkle fries. |

As long as people are willing to pay the prices, they're just going to keep going up. People go to Disneyland in droves and are happily paying face value for tickets. Personally, I hate that place. Too many kids running around and people in general. I probably wouldn't even go if I got free tickets.
Six Flags, on the other hand, is awesome in my opinion. Discount tickets are easily accessible and are relatively cheap. If you could find time to go on a weekday when the lines are under a 15 minute wait for most rides it's a blast. |

Last week took the boy to Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk--all day pass was $33 and I bought 25$ in rides to go on with him. Bought a hot dog, a 9$ beer, icee and potato thing..about $25. And found street parking and paid 5$ in meter parking for 5 hours.
Couple weeks ago went to Raging Waters park. 4 tickets was 110$ purchased at Costco. Went to the county fair and dropped about $50 for the two of us. Yesterday went to a trampoline park, Rockin jump, spent 20$ for the two us to jump around for a half hour. Day before, went to an aquatic park and got out by only dropping $25 for two hours. Yeah, summer fun does add up.
