Somebody slap some sense into me! I think the A5 is beautiful.
Let me start by saying I LOVE my 328i
However, I saw a new A5 today and I drooled... pure sex on wheels. It was beautiful. Very aggressive yet classy. Rear end is great. Lines are clean and sporty. Talked to the owner and sat in it and the interior was amazing too... probably the best I have seen in this class. In Canada, the A5 is around $52,000+/- and at that price is pretty loaded with leather, 18" wheels, etc. A 328xi coupe with sport and premium is pushing that easily. Although the Audi has more power, performance figures seem to be similar to the 328 as it is heavier. I also read that the steering and feel isn't as good (I keep hearing the term "long distance GT cruiser" associated with the A5). Having said that, I love my BMW and am really happy with it. I do have to say that I will test drive the A5 when my lease is up. I hope I hate it when I drive it cause I want to stay in the family. Damn you Audi for coming out with such a beautiful (IMO) looking car! Somebody slap some sense into me... OK, did it myself.

I was looking at the s5 before I put my money down on the 335xi. I opted against it because, at least the u.s. version is heavier, more expensive, worse handling, and less powerfull then the 335xi I am picking up next weekend. But that math changes a lot if the prices in Canada are in favor of the a5. But check availability in your area. The S5 was sold out for a full year in mine.

Look, the general consensus amongst about 99% of the people on this forum seems to be that the A/S5 has an amazing interior/exterior, an exhaust note to die for, but the steering is too light and unresponsive, and that the car is too heavy, and that it doesn't have as much low end grunt as it should.
You're not insane. The car is sexy. I believe easily moreso than the e92 as well.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. The A/S5 interior is definitely nicer than the simply functional interior of the E9X. Exterior is very subjective. I think it looks like an older W208 CLK from certain angles and wife is not a big fan of it. However, I saw a white S5 on Newbury St this past weekend and it looked ok, but the V8 was not much of a rumble and the quad exhaust is very Audily SMALL......

My 335 is not even near as good as my 2005 S4. There is no way in hell it is as good as the S5.
When the S5 comes in a cabrio my 335 is history.
