How Does the World Rank BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz?

I have a friend who has a MB C63 and we've battled numerous times over who's the "best overall" brand. I know everyone on the forum is partial but how do you think the rest of the world would rank order these 3 brands.

I think it is:

1.) BMW
2.) MB
3.) Audi

What do you think?

The answer will wholly depend on which forum you're browsing.

Interesting. Someone recently said to me "Audi is the Mercedes Benz to the rest of the world" meaning the rest of the world perceives Audi like Americans perceive MB (#1). I never thought Audi would be the #1 brand of the three.

Isn't this all personal opinion? Or you can just look up who has the most sales per year if you want to put a numeric value on it

It's personal opinion for any one individual. Billions of personal opinions equal the world's perception.

Best at what? Sales? Quality? You'll get a different answer each time.

But Porsche is 67 and I doubt anyone ranks them below these brands.

The brands rank differently in their own category IMO.

Luxury - MB.
Performance & fun - BMW
Technology - Audi.

This is my opinion of course! MB has some wicked tech in their S class cars, but Audi has it on all their cars.

After spending last 10 years in a country where wealth status is publically displayed, I can tell you the order is MB, BMW, and Audi (aka VW's cousin).

"Best" is subjective (because to describe something as 'best' requires quantitative values; otherwise it's opinion) and too broad.
"Overall" is even more subjective and broad.

And, as other posters have noted, it depends on where you are -- even, in some cases, within the same country.

If it is a pointless thread, then why did you feel it was necessary to respond to it?

The whole point of the thread is to not define the criteria (pretty obvious if you can read) but to get an forum members individual opinion on how they feel the three brands stack up in the eyes of the rest of the world.
