Exclamation Audi TT-RS update.

I have heard some news from a good source.

-TT-RS will stand out amongst RS models.
- Porsche as a result, have decided to build the Cayman Turbo.

This can be confirmed from news I found a few days ago:

Look:

The omnipresent Jalopniks have tipped us off to some interesting spy photos which were taken by BridgeToGantry.com, a site dedicated to all things about the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Wearing Ludwigsburg license plates, which indicates an official Porsche AG car, BTG spotted this Porsche Cayman doing some hot laps. What was interesting was not it's appearance but rather its sound. BTG photographer gives an account of hearing the distinct sound of a turbo engine as this Cayman flew past.

BTG states they have seen a similar Cayman prototype making the same noise a year ago, but it's back. A turbo charged Cayman making somewhere in the neighborhood of 340hp would be a serious threat and outperform its older sibling, the 911. Known for being lean and well balanced, a Cayman Turbo would absolutely cannibalize 911 sales and Porsche knows it. According to BTG, privateer teams last year who were using the Cayman were suddenly upgraded to, “money-can't-buy factory-backed RSR 911s.”

i've heard good things about the TT-RS too, except its price tag. people are saying 66,000. that is absurd. the cayman turbo looks sweet, but as mentioned in your article, this would really dick things up for the 911. i wonder where it will be priced if they do in fact build it.

Interesting that Porsche is threatened by Audi.

Sweet little car the TT, I can't wait to see how the TT-S is received, this might give us an idea as to how the TT-RS will be but remembering the differences between the S4 and RS4 the chances of us being able to read Audi's thinking is very slim indeed.

To think that the Cayman S is already a much better car than the Z4M this latest news about the TT-RS rises my expectations of Audi producing another car in the mold of the R8.

The Porsche is not "threatened" by the Audi. Porsche now owns majority of stake in VW/Audi, and the integration of a Cayman Turbo is just an act to dominate the automotive market for that sector with TT-RS being the more affordable sportscar. Almost like how BMW created a 1-Series Coupe instead of importing the 1-Series Hatch into the United States to keep the Mini Cooper market strong.

i think that the TT-RS is going to be overpriced (+70k). That would certainly be a shame. But that is all speculation and I don't really know what will be under the hood.
